Looking over your thoughts, yes past is better to pair with Oni & Drakk, gives you access to Origin Story and Stewardess of the Undone
Yeah, I think I over did the soldier thing with going for Argonaut as well, more T1 unit options than really necessary. One of the first specs I dreamed up before I saw Past/Peace was a common combo.
