Spose mox would have been preferable to Fargo Oni like that, I am trading poorly to start here… Not a lot of good options though. Maxband Zane doesn’t threaten Juggermox particularly well, I don’t win so hard at Tech2 that I can just play for stalling things like that… Spose Birds + GPT still plays things well I think. Could try to be cheeky about Vines on mox but don’t know that really is a good use of early techs

Whooops. Didn’t expect the Elite Training, much less that AND Suits AND blockers… Skipped a worker though… That does leave me an interesting opportunity. I want to tech up here obviously, but I can’t protect it without Arg (who’d be giving Oni maxband). If I force a choice to maxband OR tech up though, I should be able to win either way w/ some Arg spells to help my birds get some value. So let’s put dog down to prevent a total wipe of my buildings and tech in SotP to give birds some punch-up no matter what.

Thoughts

As gold value goes, that hooded was EXCELLENT, and no blooming i even more excellent. Do i go fishing for one card, or build a tech 2 finally. As it stands, I have 11+2 damage against a board with 7 defense, not a terrible position. If I dont go fishing, i could very easily lose Oni, which would be bad. But with Tech 2, I could Fetch Drill, which would be probaly good. My Next 4 cards are largely free of requiring Oni, so I think It sems safe to build tech 2. Also, it would be quite intense for him to actually get the kill on Oni, requiring 4 hasty damage, charged something tech 0/1 and mad man and makeshift is quite a gold sink, not to mention unlikely set of cards, at 3+1+2+2gold, not enough to maxband arg at all even with a 1 gold something. Chances are high he just wall up with stuff while I beat him up with Oni.

My Thoughts

Well, I have to sac Arg and Zane to barely get this Oni kill (thanks charnel for the [rules question answer[(Rules Questions thread - #3568 by charnel_mouse)), but it’s the only play AND it does have the advantage of whiffing Garth maxband at least. I can hope it’s a bit of a do-nothing turn for Zhav and I draw into Ancient next turn, spose I should tech in another Bird’s Nest and maybe MoLaC, try and minimize my dead draw chances. Worker the dog, I’d rather keep the other Bird’s Nest. worst case I maxband Rook + Ancient next turn I spose

It’s no worries, I was still pretty far behind and dependent on you not being able to get the machine running on that turn. With Rook down, no birds, which means Nullcraft can have its way with me next turn, which means a pretty bleak prognosis on this low base health.

GG WP, I missed not teching Dinosize over SotP turn 4. I didn’t think through the risk Oni + Tower would pose like that, then didn’t think through needing to kill off Fargo in order to try and save a Bird for longer. SotP did not provide the value it needed to then and there, I was kinda banking a hard read you’d go for teching up and I’d score a cheap Oni kill and that was short-sighted.

Looks like a little unlucky for me there huh, you pulled the garrison in the 3 out of 14 (39%) and then DS cadet kotc right in line with it. Plenty of other stuff swimming around in that deck any of that coulda been. Keeping rook up with less opposition blocking might have been the difference, means earlier runes for me. Ah well, them’s the breaks! Ultimately still my bad read on the SotP over Dinosize (and not thinking you’d go Elite Training and patrolling a WTF on turn 3, lol).

Yea, that was super lucky. It could have played out without the rook kill with different draws. The maxbanded Garth early was really hampering my style.

That was a fun bonus of getting Chaos Mirror and not Dinosize last turn XD although the total hero lockout is a pretty dour downside on it :wink:

Fun game overall, think these decks are decently matched and you played really well from P2! I wonder if maybe trying to go Gunships could have been an out for me after the early game blunders? I don’t really think about Anarchy T2 with this deck and maybe I need more reps giving it or Strength I shot. I did consider DeGrey for a minute but my birds were the only thing going for me early

I really don’t know what I was thinking not patrolling differently turn 3 (or not biting the bullet and patrolling mad man in front and rook backline for safety)… I guess that if you teched and drew Elite Training I kinda didn’t have a good option? Or that between Zane and Birds I’d be able to hit back well at least, but didn’t consider Training on a patroller + another patroller PLUS midband Oni?

I really need to play with a more exploratory mind to “what’s worst case scenario”, I move really quickly off things when it’s hard to figure out lol

I love miracle grow, and find that anarchy is an absolutely essential tool, particularly gunships. That said, normally BA is faster than peace engine, but I had made the decision to forego teching up, which did lead to my somewhat bloated deck at the end, requiring some lucky draws to pull out the win. Ideally I would not have teched quite so many spells and more units to avoid that problem. I regretted the boot camp tech in particular, but the 2 elite trainings were worth it.

I have the same problem on thinking about worst case scenarios. Its one of the things I work on the hardest. I still trip it up half the time anyway.
