Well this game sure went downhill fast. Maaaybe I should’ve squad lead my barbarbarian after all, since it wouldn’t let him split damage as nicely. I think we got a pretty similar outcome but the horror would be dead, which would have been nice actually. So probably a misplay there.
Anyway, I think he’s about to play drakk and midband him off a hero kill here and utterly wipe my board. Not looking good!

My Thoughts

Really feeling the pinch of so little gold… I don’t think Archery is a great option w/ discord, unless I want to use it to allow me to fish for a Nether Drain. I need to keep the tech2 down as I completely forgot about Degrey as a LB killer, and I kinda want to max Garth here to get a double break…

Sac that skele, if Nether Drain do it for a barrow, if not ping AS then sac again, either way Barrow Rook

Yea that’s the line for sure, so it’s just a matter of what I do with the last gold if I get ND, and whether I sac the last skele defensively.

Got it first try, nice. I think I worker and sac one skele for card upkeep, have to expect discord is coming but leaving one skele alive gives me better attack options JIC it doesn’t, and at this point I don’t care about my cards that much

Really rough draw for me last turn, missing versatile. Also just getting rocked by crashbarrows super hard, which sucks. At least one of them is permanently trapped until he trashes his graveyard, so I only face 1 per turn. However… I now permanently face 1 per turn. The archery was so unexpected here, allowing him to recover his hand size so much… very upsetting. I think I’m going to lose my tech 1 again which is very very bad for me and I probably lose if that happens.

Saved it for a rainy day XD

My Thoughts

There’s the discord, good thing I spent the skeleton for draws. Drain + Drakk I think makes sense here, and LB as I can’t quite afford max drakk + BC haste (which would be awesome). Probably the response will be max Rook but idk, maybe not w/ Bomber seeing 2x nether drain


No matter what line I take this turn, I have no way of preventing lethal. It’s over. @zhavier

I have to say, I’m very disappointed with how my discord draws lined up. They really just didn’t come at the right time at all.

GG WP! I figured you must have had poor line-up on Discord as I was relieved to dodge it at what would have been inopportune times for me. Feels like I eeked that one out

It looks like you just teched 1 discord until late though, which I think maybe a second would have been warranted on turn 3 or 4 in lieu of the second Barb; my deck is so dependent on hording that I feel like you want to have as many chances at it as possible. That or DeGrey earlier.

No, I teched a Discord on turn 2 but workered it later, and then teched a second copy.
The problem was I bottom decked it until the turn you killed River, because you already had crashbarrows before it came up.

No that’s what I mean; Teching just the one on turn 2 makes sense, but turn 3 or 4 probably should have teched the other OR degrey. That way you were less likely to dead draw the only token-hate you had for that whole turn 4-6 cycle

That wouldn’t have saved me since I only had my first two techs there; by the time I cycled again, you already had board control.

Well when you drew the Barb turn 5, that could have been a degrey you teched instead, and that would have made a big difference no? Same goes if the Barb you drew turn 6 had been a discord, that also would have meant shutting down three of my skeletons and maybe killing Garth with SA + Fencer? That could have been really big, too

Well ok, I’ll concede the truth in that statement.
However, I genuinely thought you skipped over bargain, and by the time I saw it I had cycled and couldn’t reactively tech.

That’s understandable but it’s almost like you have to respect it, even if you think I won’t do it. The second Barb is low-ish impact if you aren’t able to immediately two-step or SP rune it, so the relative utility of having the second is kind-of outweighed by relative risk of my dropping Lich’s Bargain. Even if I’m not going LB, just the number of skeletons I can amass in general is reason enough to have those options to hit the reset button and bust up a patrol. I was leaning on them hard as a crutch as I didn’t really have other options

But certainly it was unlucky not getting the discord turn 3 or 4, as it was lucky for me I re-drew the Crashbarrow turn 6, so it wasn’t the only deciding factor in the game at all. GG WP all the same :slight_smile:

I definitely still enjoyed the match. Playing against you is incredibly tense, always.

You raise good points. I’ll try to tech more discord vs necromancy in future.

I had totally forgotten about DeGrey until turn 7 also. Had you surprised me with that, I would have been crushed and if I’m being honest w/ myself, on mega-tilt lol
