Balance Patch 2.1

I’d expect something like “haste has no effect for your units“. That way, there’s no keeping track of cards “losing” abilities, and everything goes back to normal if your Garrisons are destroyed.

@charnel_mouse Does haste no effect for your units when you play from your hand? Is that your idea? Then I agree, it’s a better wording than mine and it will preserve effects like Now and Bloodlust. If not, I don’t understand why these spells should break because of a shorter wording. Additionally, I believe that the note about ephemerality should be included, as it wouldn’t limit the Blood spec and it’s more challenging to implement. This will definitely increase the ward, but I think it should be there and it shouldn’t be a big problem. It will weaken the Burning legion and leave everything else as it is

The idea is simpler than that: haste doesn’t have any effect on your units at all, whether it’s a printed ability or given by Now! etc.

They’d still have it as a keyword, though, so e.g. if the opponents have Wandering Mimics to play, they can still copy the haste and make use of its effect.

I think this is what was in mind when writing the original wording.

It turns out that this wording breaks the spells, I mean, with the wording I suggested, other strategies won’t be affected or weakened. Are we only talking about weakening the Burning Legion?

Weakening the Burning Legion, yes, but ideally without inflating the card text too much. I haven’t played with/against BL, so I don’t know how much the note about ephemerality would do. My guess is that it would make [Blood]/Demon/Peace better instead. Aesthetically, I’d also think it looked a bit odd, since you’re talking about Ephemeral on a card in a faction that doesn’t have ephemeral units.

I agree, but blood t2, where the main units are ephemeral, will be more difficult to implement, and you will have to sacrifice something while playing it. And there are also no units tech1-haste, of course, such a deck can get its niche, but I do not think that it will be as strong as the blazing legion in this case. In any case, in order to know for sure, it is necessary to check it. I also think that from a game design perspective, some words about ephemerality looks strange, but from a tournament game perspective, it might…

P.s. In general, roughly speaking, considering how many balance changes have already been made and how many more could be made, I don’t see a problem with a slightly longer word count to ensure that the game functions as before. But if it could be reduced even more, that would be great, I agree.
