Thoughts
I’ve never come across this deck that I’ve been given, and I’m not sure that I understand it.
I have heard of [Necro]/Blood/Truth though, and I think this may be a variation of it. Present Tech 2 is clearly stronger than either Truth or Necromancy, and it has some resemblance to Blood in having lots of immediate effects. Although as I’ve found to my cost in playing my own invention, Present Tech 2 is really gold-hungry, so I’m not sure I like being forced into playing it as P1.
I’m puzzled by the use of the Purple starter though. The whole reason that Black is the starter in Necro/Blood/Truth seems to be because of Graveyard - playing Crashbarrows from there is obviously awesome (particularly when you can mirror them!), and it could be similar, albeit a lot more expensive, with Hyperions or Tricycloids. But I can’t do that, as I don’t have the black starter, but the purple instead. That is mainly a good defensive starter, with some time-rune tricks that are more or less irrelevant unless you’re playing monopurple. Other than Nullcraft, I don’t really see what the puple starter does to help this deck. [I’m aware Battle Suits is a thing too, which also helps a few Present units - but I still think I’d rather have the black starter.]
I’m even less sure about his deck - although I played against Past/Peace/Finesse last time and this has 2/3 specs the same and the same starter. PastPF seemed like a weaker version of PPA (although still strong enough to blast past my ineffective experimentation), but PresentPF is probably quite different. It doesn’t have all Prynn’s annoying tools for me to deal with, but of course Present has plenty of shenanigans even without it being the Tech 2 option. I wonder whether he’ll go for Peace or Present at Tech 2?
Anyway, I got a pretty rubbish opening hand. I briefly considered trying Plasmodium, before realising that, even as P1 on T1, it would be pretty stupid with only Time Spiral and Tinkerer to help it along. (And me not likely to play Geiger until at least the midgame.) I can’t play both a unit and a hero because of the purple starter’s tragic lack of any 1-drops. Since I’m not a fan of a blank 2/2 to start with (I may well play Battle Suits later, but probably not on T2), in the end I’ve just gone with Nullcraft to have a swipe at his base. Our two nullcrafts will probably end up just cancelling each other out though (at least until he gets the Peace engine going and dumps a load of runes on his). Next turn I’ll worker Mox and play Fading Argo, as well as probably Garth to get a skeleton.
Not entirely sure of the detail going forward, but the general idea will be Present Tech 2 with Mirror backup.
