Thoughts

I needed Tenderfoot to avoid getting sniped by a rampant growth on T1. Grave is my most active play, because he’s the cheapest to level. I suspect he’ll play birds, because my deck doesn’t have any counter! I’ll try to focus on my P1 advantage as I don’t think my mid-late game options are a fair match to his.

I made another turn and reshuffled. I’m not sure how to procede from here, I made the turn before I saw your reply.

That’s fine - my turn wasn’t actually dependent on yours. I’ll edit my turn to fix the patrol zone and base health, then you can continue.

On second thought, I have no changes to make. Base is at 16, go ahead.

I have to admit that I made another mistake on Turn 2. But it is just a cosmetic one. It lists 4 cards in my deck, where it should have only been 3: 2 in play, 2 workers, 5 in hand, leaves 3 in deck.

I double checked to make sure everything is in order now.

GG, I’m not coming back from this.
I should have invested in a blocker, it was clear, that you could kill Grave. I hoped you wouldn’t draw Rampant Growth + Forest’s Favor. I had two True Power of Storms ready in my deck and the chance I drew one was decent, but I wanted to draw 5 cards ( I didn’t draw True Power of Storms ).

I don’t see how my decks should have answered birds, if I didn’t go for quick board control, and I felt whatever Tech II I chose would be inferior to your Growth II, so I thought I should end the game as quickly as possible.

I probably could have chosen a better opening Tech than Reversal after all :smirk:, it seemed like a good idea to deny you to play a hero for 1 turn and I assumed you’d start with double Birds.

I think if you can get to Tech II, Young Lightning Dragon or Eggship (depending on spec) are both solid answers to Birds. Versatile Style is less solid, but available earlier.
Versatile Style also answers MoLaC, which is always worrying, but especially when the opponent has access to Zane.

I think the bigger question is how to deal with Blooming Ancient. I can only think of two things:

  1. Troq’s Final Smash. Of course, then you have to play Troq early game and steadily build him. Which gives the opponent plenty of time to choose something other than BA for a line to victory.
  2. Granfaloon Flagbearer.

If you had played the Flagbearer on T4, you would have been way down on cards, but he wouldn’t have been able to Shamble runes onto his bird: they would have gone to Flagbearer instead. If you could have kept it alive, it would have continued to protect you from Blooming Ancient on Eric’s Turn 5, in the same way.

I’m not sure it would have been the right play, but it might have enabled you to get to Tech II.

I don’t think that I would have been able to suggest this at the beginning of the match. It’s always easier to dig for answers in retrospect!
