The first game was a massacre, I think I only one combat a single time. I switched to Setsuki thinking that she could probably win combat more often and do more consistent damage each win (as opposed to the very burst-y damage DeGrey often does, which can be countered by how rapidly a Healing Orb or two can let Gloria draw Jokers). Don’t know whether that was better according to the matchup charts, but it seemed to work out well for me!

One game ended with me having only a single throw left in my deck, so I was blocking 90% of the time trying to deck out while I still had a life lead and occasionally playing an attack to keep him from throwing. It felt wrong to block that much as Setsuki, but I did end up winning it with a Shuriken Hail throw punish.

Nice to play some Gloria again, it’s been too long. I don’t think the rust had set in too much, any mistakes I made there I would have made anyway, and probably playing a bunch of Setsuki mirrors only helped me play that matchup.

These battles had some of my favorite dynamics and mechanics in it!! We both drew really strong hands all throughout the game. Lots of Jokers and Aces handy on both sides! Even after my degenerate War Stomps, MR pulled a topdeck Block, and I kept thinking he only had Aces! It was wild…

Got lotsa Giant Growth going the whole way, too, hehe. Truly a Land of Plenty kind of battle

But ah, my opponent was fantastic, too. I’m sorry he had to lose. I bet he’ll be doing great next time!

Dragon Master?! Nani??!! I draw 3 Qs in opening hand, fizzle and die.
Second to last turn I have 27710, power up 7s for A, play it with sneaky 10* back up and it beats the Q.
I try to silly power up for AAAA and it fails, but Midori sees no 2*s so I guess it works out.
Fish gets tossed.

He got lethal from a casual +14 MHG damage. I was too amused when Pilebunker outsped Righteous Zeal so I accidentally hit A and skipped my bluff rather than play my joker. Either of which would have allowed me to live. We were moderately close until that point.
Just a casual perfect! Tell the truth when they expect you to lie and they’ll just fall apart!
I was definitely revealing my hyper aggressive angles here. It worked out for me despite the specter of Maximum Anarchy hovering around!
Getting hit by 3 K’s in the beginning of the game isn’t the most auspicious start. I was able to sorta even things out, but then a Queen defeats my randy Consent of the Governed.
Destroying Troq’s blocks fills me with unholy glee! I was building a small lead but every time Caralad would slingshot us back to even. I was able to close out the game by undercutting his 6 with my 5!

GGs Caralad! I’m happy that I’ve finally beaten you in FQM! Just once more and we’ll have an even record here!

No spirals in the early -> mid game, but Arg teaches me that good things come to those who wait, and so I do.
Setsuki gets stuck on an awful hand and has an impossible time getting out of it.

Yup, it’s official, DeGrey-Quince is my favorite matchup right now. So many interesting interactions! The first Menelker game was hilarious because he managed to draw all of his 7s and a lot of black face cards so I had only garbage in my hand most of the game.

@vengefulpickle, I just noticed the brackets seem to be generated differently from how I expected in one notable way. Each bracket is supposed to represent an 8-person tournament with quarter-finals, semi-finals, and grand finals, and if we had enough players I think this would always be true… But look at the bracket for my match this week and you’ll notice that byes have caused it to become equivalent in number of rounds to a 32-person tournament!

In addition, I noticed that I got 2 stars for my last two wins. My last win giving me 2 stars makes sense to me, since it was my second win within that tournament (and that leads me to think the problem is that byes aren’t actually advancing players to the correct round of the tournament), but I can’t figure out why getting a bye to go against snoc in the finals of his tournament and beating him would give me 2 stars instead of either 3 (what you’d expect for winning the grand finals) or 1 (what you’d expect for winning my first match of that particular tournament).

I’m fine with leaving things how they are for this week since my star count is correct right now (I should’ve received 3 from snoc and the start of a new tournament with MR should’ve given me 1, which adds up to the same 4 that I got). However, it does seem like there’s a bug or two with how your code handles byes that you should probably address since they could result in incorrect star counts.

Positive Spin is good. Being knocked down against Geiger is the WORST. That said, I always seemed to have jokers when I needed them so I wasn’t ever too worried. It’s one of the only matchups where I consider having your Gold Burst dodged a semi-win. Good games, Xiba!
