i was thinking this is no brainer vandy start… but then i kinda wanna try drakk… i don’t want to go to late game on this match up… not against charnel…

Thoughts
This is a tough matchup, where I don’t know what to aim for. Growth II is probably my main goal, but with bansa having Growth too, and a neither of us having upgrade removal, late game could be a real slog. I like the idea of taking a second spec, but I’m not sure which one. Both Finesse and Truth play nicely with MoLaC, Truth less so with Blooming Ancients until Macciatus appears. I don’t think Dreamscape + Ancients is worth it, I suspect bansa will go for Blood.
For now, I think I’m OK to open with Ironbark Treant. Even with Drakk support, Mad Man isn’t scary, and I can put it in Squad Leader for a chance. Probably looking at Bloodrage Ogre next turn, I’d be happy to trade them off after absorbing Mad Man. Not sure how I’d dealing with Drakk yet, probably Fencers.
Shambler becomes a worker, since I’m expecting to take Ancients worker. Holding onto Young Treant to try and flood the board later, and Verdant Tree could be handy to hang onto tech buildings later too.
i got some options here… not sure what is the right move… i wanna skip tech i and put some board pressure… what to tech… kidnapping x2 would be the most obvious choice here… so maybe something else… let’s play a game.

waaatttt? im so stunned… his patrol… how is he ruling out kidnapping… it would’ve been game over if i had kidnapping… how can he risk so much so early? man that is some bold move… charnel definitely did his homework and is reading into my style… pretty impressive…

Hmm, no teched cards so far. bansa’s got to have whiffed on drawing Drakk spells, right? If I delay Tech II then I can get rid of Drakk here. Given bansa’s propensity to go for a base rush, I definitely want to do that. Then I’ve got a few options with my remaining two gold:
River lets me take Two Step and see what I draw, sideline something if I need to.
Quince, and plan to copy something next turn. I’d only be able to afford a midband copy if I’m teching up next turn, so it’s dependent on what else we both play.
Verdant Tree to hit Tech II next turn.
Heroes’ Hall. Not sure what I’d do with it, unless I just want to bring out Argagarg and Quince to spam tokens.
This depends partly on which spec I’m taking. The problem is, all of my specs have lynchpin buffing units that are prone to Kidnapping. That leaves me with a few game plans:
Might of Leaf and Claw, sped up by Tech I Fencers, supported by Artisan Mantis for healing my base.
Virtuosos. Grounded Guides are vulnerable to Kidnapping, but their aura doesn’t benefit bansa as much as it benefits me.
Non-Virtuoso Finesse. Leaping Lizards are a pain to efficiently attack into, and give me anti-air in case of Gargoyles. Cloud Sprites give me a way to block Gliders, but they’re vulnerable to Kidnapping. Backstabbers aren’t, due to being invisible, but they’ll need support from Argagarg’s spells to make that a fast enough way to win, or Two Step if I just want to lock down bansa’s buildings. Interesting idea, but I’d want more ways to draw cards to make it work.
Stampede! I’ve no idea whether I could set this up quickly enough, especially when I can’t bring Argagarg back this turn.
Dreamscape + Ancients is too much of a liability, with bansa having lots of targeted spells.
Most of these are more card-heavy than I’d like, but I don’t see a better option. Might of Leaf and Claw it is. With that in mind, I’ll take Quince, since his illusions can set up some tricks without using extra cards. Teching in a Starlet before taking a Mantis, since the latter is too vulnerable to Kidnapping before my board is better-established.
Rampant Growth is more useful than Verdant Tree once I’ve got MoLaC down, and I’ll desperately need Young Treant’s card draw, so the Tree becomes a worker.
Wisp go in front to either trade with the Ogre or restore my hand size. With Drakk dead, hopefully my Mirror is safe from being popped on the backline.

I was hoping bansa wouldn’t notice the power of Growth in this matchup, and go for a Blood base race. Oh, well. Hopefully my having already started my Tech II cycle gives me a head start. Going for the second Starlet, a Mantis won’t help much against Growth.
Maxband Quince so Vandy can’t kill him alone. Hopefully I don’t get blown up by Drakk haste here, but if I do then hopefully bansa can’t destroy both Tech II and Quince, so I can bring in lots of virtuosos if I can’t play MoLaC.

great… he preteched molac… can’t get ahead of him… only thing i can hope is activating it on the following turn after him… if i clear his winnies he can do 4 attacks if im counting correctly… i think this is best i can do… not looking good of course…
Feels like a subobtimal play but I can’t think of a better line either. I’ll just stick with it. I’m gonna regret it either way so better regret the first and only one. No changes.

Thoughts
Just the technician draw I wanted!
I’m tempted to shoot for Liberty Gryphons, two of them with a activated MoLaC – or one with a mirror copy – is enough to destroy a base. Stampede or Mind Control would also be handy. I’ll split the difference and go for a Gryphon and a Stampede.
Nimble Fencer goes in patrol, to try and keep Quince safe from Vandy. It slows down my MoLaC activation a bit, but if Quince survives then I can mirror the second Fencer. Fingers crossed for no Drakk shenenigans. Fencer goes in Squad Leader in case of Shadow Blade.

now am i crazy or did he just draw a 1/9 fencer/molac followed by a 1/8 molac/fencer? draws are killing me front and back… he shouldn’t have fencers in his hand or deck… i think… maybe i got this??
Yea, if Mirror was already popped, I would just deal 16 (vandy 4+drakk 12) to your base but that’s knowing my next hand so I guess the right thing to do is redraw or be okay with half desired bloodlust. I think I deserve the latter for being an idiot. No changes.
