Hmm, I was hoping to open with Playful Panda here. Never mind. Do I go for Onimaru for more offense next turn, or bring in Zane to immediately have something to rune next turn? I reckon the latter, runed Zane + threat of Surprise Attack seems good. I’ll have time for Boot Camp later. Long term, Flagstone Garrison is probably a bad idea, but Growth or Gunships are doable. Bit overwhelmed by the options here. I could go for Surprise Attack, but Purple has good options to make 3-strength attackers really inefficient: Fading Argonaut in SQL, Argonaut, Stewardess in SQL… even with Overeager Cadet going down on the same turn, not a great play.Chaos Mirror isn’t too useful against Purple I either, for similar reasons. Giant Panda is a way to try and get some runes down. Gunpoint Taxman or Elite Training would be nice to deal with that Nullcraft, and keep the pressure on more.

Playful Panda here would be nice, but I think I need an Elite Spore Shambler to protect Zane from Forgotten Fighter. If it survives, the map lets it be an endless rune dispenser. It could also make Chaos Mirror pretty great, since it’s a 0/1.

Think I’m going with Chaos Mirror and Gunpoint Taxman based on the above. If I only draw one, I can midband Zane.

Chaos Mirror on the Shambler to clear the patrol seems to be the obvious play. Alternatively, I just midband Zane and attack, then play the Playful Panda. That lets me threaten more runes, but I’d be vulnerable to Stewardess of the Undone, and I suspect Shadow will have teched that when I played the Shambler. Not a big board advantage, but at least the Nullcraft is attacking rather than getting runes.

If my position’s still good next turn, I might go for Gunships. Otherwise, Growth and go wide, maybe risk an early Elm if I’m holding on to some runes.

Thoughts

Nice, runing up the Nullcraft so Zane can’t safely kill the Stewardess. I can get around that with Chaos Mirror if I want to, though. Alternatively, I tech up now, and block with the Taxman, but that’s probably asking for trouble.

I think I’m best off going for Growth here, it lets me take best advantage of Chaos Mirror and Surprise Attack. Do I want the Scavenger bonus? I can’t spend it this turn, unless I build a Tech Lab, and go for Ancients + Marauders or something. Alternatively, I could float it, and threaten Rampant Growth with a Surprise Attack next turn. I think I’d rather not give Shadow more gold if he’s already floating, I’m probably facing Tech II + decent defence as it is. Stops him from teching and casting Origin Story.

I couldn’t ask for a better board to throw Sharks at. Dealing with the Nullcraft was the Taxman’s job, so I’m fine with trading it here. Hope I don’t draw into those Ancients.

Present II wasn’t unexpected here, not sure whether for Hyperion/Tricycloid or Immortals. I want another hero’s spells, since I expect Zane to get rushed at some point, so Polymorph: Squirrel might be good to deal with those, especially the latter. I won’t care about Chronofixer if I can get my engine going soon, so I’m no longer relying on Zane. Maybe not tech that just yet, though, I want more pressure first. The other Taxman, or spells, basically. I can put in Elite Training if I go for Heroes’ Hall over an extra unit this turn. Alternatively, I might want a Rhino to stand against Present II. No, let’s go with Elite Training and also put the Panda down this turn, that should keep me standing until I get the Tech II down. That should be OK to get through the next cycle, then I might need to worry about card draw.

Oof, that’s a lot of float, Shadow just took the tech break in his stride. I can break Tech II again by suiciding Zane after casting Surprise Attack, then bringing in Onimaru to cast Elite Training, but I’m skipping a worker and losing my main asset to do that, plus I’d only have Onimaru and a Wisp on the board, so I’m slowly losing board advantage here. I think I have to tech up now and hope Shadow doesn’t have two Present II units in hand.

Teching in Polymorphs, I can’t remember why I didn’t already.
