[XCAFRR19 Round6] Nopethebard [Fire]/Truth/Disease vs charnel_mouse [Feral]/Growth/Disease

Yeah I know. Can’t really do much about that tho

That’s fair. Bears seem pretty rough for your deck to deal with, good job dealing with the first one.

Thoughts

I guess Orpal’s in patrol so I need a buff spell for the Bear to break the Tech II, but Green’s got enough ways to do that. Nope might have been better off not patrolling Orpal, so I couldn’t Overpower through him. I don’t know, this seems a rough matchup for him. Moss Ancients are untargetable on top of all the resist/invisible stuff I already have, might as well jump for them so I’ve got a tech building on full health.

GGWP. Do you see anything this deck could do to stop Feral?

GGWP! @FrozenStorm

The deck wants to use a lot of targeted effects (I think?), so dealing with Feral / Calamandra’s aura definitely goes out of its usual (?) game plan. If you go through my thoughts, you can see I was worried about Quince making Mirrors to copy the Bears, and teched accordingly. Disease could also be good for Gorgons, deathtouch is great against big units. It also provides Abominations, so Calamandra can’t just bring in Murkwood Allies + Gigadon.

You’d still need something to punish target effects yourself, though, in case the opponent goes for Orpal / Blooming Ancients instead, which makes Dreamscape either really good or awful depending on which spec they take. Orpal could still be useful, but for Carrion Curse (vs. MoLaC) / Spreading Plague instead of spreading - runes.

Happy to do a rematch, if you’d like. I’d be interested in switching decks, to see what I can come up with, but I’m fine either/neither way.

No thanks.

No worries. Good luck for the rest of the tournament.

Thanks. I hope I stop getting so many weird Codexes. I’m definitely going monocolor next Tournament.
Trying to decide between mono Green and Mono Black

There’s certainly a few strange decks in our bracket. There’s also a ton of decks that are Green + Orpal. Great for me, since I like Green and I like Orpal, but probably frustrating if you don’t have much experience with them.

Black is probably the deck that’s more powerful, and easier to pilot, within multicolour tournaments. Persephone did really well with Green last tournament, though. Go with the one you really want to learn.

I really like both. I wish I could swap between them between games. But I don’t like multicolor. I will probably choose Black on the grounds that it is easier to use

@Nopethebard Don’t feel bad, my deck is treating everyone bad

i suggest you using both monocolors and switching the spec you like less with finesse.River’s doesn’t give you multicolor techI penalty, discord and 2 steps are great spells and finess is as cheap as powerful.
Tbh in your shoes during this match up i would have gonr truth, rushing for tech III and it’s griffons. You had a solid start, but then did really bad trades, going down on econ and board, imo.

Truth is pretty high-risk. If I suspect it, I can go for Sickness + Blooming Ancients for a lot of popping power, and Spreading Plague to get around Macciatus. I would struggle more with the Gryphons, though.

quince also means cheap units and free speech tho. makes easier to control the board and win the tech race.

Sure. Not bad, just high-risk.

I’m not a big fan of Finesse either.
I dislike multicolor because it tends to have less versatile builds and because I like to see the color and immediately know how the matchup works. So more like Starcraft/Warcraft races and less like a unique team.
