Aged Sensei + Grave is the book aggro opening, right?

Turn 1

Hand: Pestering Haunt, Skeletal Archery, Skeleton Javelineer, Thieving Imp, Sacrifice the Weak

Hand

Pestering Haunt, Sacrifice the Weak

Think

This is going to be a tough matchup for me. I have to keep up my card draw to drop enough things to not fold to early pressure. Probably playing Jandra next turn and a graveyard when she dies.

Thoughts

Fox Viper seems like a liability vs. Deteriorate, and I have plenty of Virtuosos to tech at the 2g mark.

Turn 2

Hand: Poisonblade Rogue, Deteriorate, Jandra, the Negator, Graveyard
Tech: Lich’s Bargain, Argonaut
Workers: Skeletal Archery, Poisonblade Rogue

Thinking

I should’ve played Haunt instead of Javelineer last turn. Fencers are going to ruin my day. With this redraw, this game could be in serious trouble.

P1 @Persephone [Discipline]/Strength/Finesse vs
P2 @Bryce_The_Rice [Necromancy]/Blood/Present

Tech 2 cards. (2 discards)

Thoughts

Maybe if burn my entire hand, I can recoup enough value from healing & reusable armor that it works out anyway.

Turn 3

Hand: Summon Skeletons, Deteriorate, Pestering Haunt, Thieving Imp
Tech: Hyperion, Tricycloid
Workers: Skeletal Archery, Poisonblade Rogue, Summon Skeletons

  1. Tech 2 cards
  2. Get paid (+$7, $7)

Thonk

A painful whiff for me means I have to make a tough decision: try to defend or tech up. I decided to tech up, since with a smart Lich’s Bargain last turn, I can put up a reasonable defence even if both my tech buildings go down here (which I don’t think is likely anyway).

Even a single Immortal messes me up pretty bad; will need to tech Reversal (Entangling Roots?) if Tech II is going to stay up. Unfortunately, Geiger beats both of those.

Thoughts

Colossus can out-muscle Immortal, if I draw one. Big think if I want to also break Tech I or hit base down to 6. River can always sideline a T0/T1, so a single T1 blocker isn’t that big of a deal… Starlet will have a nice 6 attack, it’s in range for a Colossus hit. But it also means Garth can resurrect an Argonaut, and if I don’t win next turn I’ll have to face more Present IIs. Feeling moderately more confident in a two-turn win than a one-turn one.

Oh, next hand is two Colossi on a 12-gold turn. There’s something.

Thoughts

I’m thinking they didn’t tech Death Grasp, as it would be hideously inefficient vs. Virtuosos. With Drakk down, I think it will take 3 Geiger spells to kill Colossus? And then I just hit the base with units.

Sorry it took so long to respond here.
When I saw your post I thought “This is probably over” but I haven’t had the chance to sit down and confirm it until now.
I realised I had a very slim shot, which was to draw doom grasp from skeletons and crush colossus (and probably lose to something else anyway) but I didn’t draw the doom grasp, so it’s properly over.

Good game! I was kind of hoping the sudden transition from 2-drops to Colossi would maybe catch you off guard & w/o teching a Doom Grasp, but you were prepared.

I had teched a single one earlier just in case rook turned out to be an issue.
