Thoughts

Earthquake already? Usually that’s precipitated by a pair of Birds, so I didn’t see it coming. Guess I’ll give Artisan Mantis a try. Poisonblade Rogue should make Rook easier to take down. I’m worried about Thunderclap giving Rook access to my backline, so I’ll field Garth. If the Panda gets Hooked and Garth dies, at least I’m not giving away free levels.

How did pbr double-kill Rook?

The Poisonblade Rogue’s attacks apply -1/-1 runes instead of damage chits, so he put 6 of those on Rook, reducing his maximum health to 0 and killing him. Then, two lives activated, removing all damage chits, but not -1/-1 runes. Rook therefore still had a maximum health of 0 and died again immediately. Edit: Technically he doesn’t actually die when he crumbles; my language usage was a bit imprecise. He “would die” but instead gains the crumbling rune, then actually dies by having a maximum health of 0.

In that case, GG.

GG. I was surprised to see Earthquake before Bird’s Nest. Most people running Earthquake use the Birds to damage buildings before casting the ultimate. They’re also good at picking off low-health units like the Rogue.

I just noticed I already had maxband Rook so I decided to do that instead of my original plan (oathkeeper).

Earthquake can be devastating, so I think you had a good idea in aiming for it, but it’s not very efficient on its own. It would have been much more impactful if you had lead with evasive units like Birds or even Smoker first.

Thanks. You want to play again? I’d like to try Blue again.

Sure. Do you want me to stick with the same build or switch to something else?

Either way works. I need to learn to deal with it sooner or later.

Guess I’ll stick with it for now, then; I feel like the practice is helping me. Let me know if you want a change of pace, though. Looks like you were T1 last time we did this matchup, so I’ll start us off this time. GL HF!

Thoughts

Blue doesn’t have anything that really needs -1/-1 runes to deal with. Not patrolling so that Arrest isn’t an option, and because Blue starter & heroes have no haste.
