Sucks to whiff my tech 2’s, they’ll be dead in my hand next turn… and if Macciatus gets played, Bloodlust won’t do me much good either. All I can do is try for fair trades, and hope Frozen doesn’t go nuts next turn.
I could play a hero instead of Bombaster, probably Jaina, but that would tip my hand about having drawn Ember Sparks, and just feeds free levels. Plus, if my guys survive I might get some use out of Drakk’s midband.
I don’t have anything in hand, even ignoring the Injunction. GG WP!
Patrolling just the Traffic Director was an awesome way to play around Ember Sparks! I needed a faster surefire answer to Aven, and I teched Bloodlust too late.

Leading with two units lets me apply pressure, while keeping my options for a hero open.
I really love these monocolor matchups. For the most part, they feel like the most carefully designed, and thus balanced and interesting ways to play the game. Black vs Blue is really the only one where I don’t find fun little wrinkles; small spots where certain cards that you previously thought are trash get really cool usage, depending on the matchup and game state.
That last game is a great example! Like you said, just patrolling TD with a backline of Illusions and Porky ended up being a great way to avoid a lot of your targeting and thus, get advantage with the illusions’ efficiency without their drawback. Combined with Injunction, it was pretty awesome shutdown (on this side of the table anyway)! Feels good to play Blue as the control deck it ought to be, rather than playing it against Black (my primary experience with Blue is in that matchup. It’s so hellish lol…)
Now watch me get wrecked as you find a new wrinkle! GL HF!
As an aside, I feel pretty well “warmed up”, but I’m happy to keep playing games to keep exploring more corners. Just lmk when you feel good to start the ones “that count”

Porky, you are apparently my dude lol… Again I can’t 1-drop + tower against possible Rambaster, so I just have to drop to trade most efficiently and try to stabilize. Next turn if there’s no Bloodburn, I probably go Aven + Newsie + Tech1. If there is Bloodburn, probably Hero instead of Aven.
Mmm, I’m not quite sure I’ve had enough of a warm-up. Just as an example, I have yet to open with Drakk in this series

I have to keep Drakk alive, to be able to cast Bloodlust next turn and pop Aven. So I won’t even play Mad Man, to ensure Frozen can’t MTruth an extra hasted attacker.
I do want to tech up next turn, so it’s a pity I won’t be able to afford Lobber in addition to Bloodlust. But I can keep Frozen on the back foot with Brogre, unless he’s Arrested, in which case Frozen would be delaying his own tech 2.

This looks bad… Drawing Macciatus here is a pretty major bummer. My best bet is grabbing both Gryphons and trying to to rush for tech 3. My Free Speechs are well spaced at least, so that increases my odds of winning a race. I suppose it’s possible he goes for tech lab anarchy, but for now I’ll operate on the assumption he’s doing Firebird.

Still not buying Gunship, and even if he has it? Not the end of the world. My Tech 3 is about as good as his, and Maxband oni keeps Aven and Living Gryphon covered nicely. So kill the known, immediate threats (Jaina and Drakk), and let next turn deal the death blows.
I have a Cinderblast Dragon in hand, but I can’t target your Gryphon or break your tech 3 to stop you from bringing two more, all unstoppable.
Killing Bigby on T5 was a mistake - Injunction wouldn’t have been as bad for me as Free Speech at that point; and I had a bad draw on T6 - I hit the wrong end of that same 18%…

That was a crazy game. Agree that killing bigby was unnecessary, otherwise was pretty dang even!
