Well, Grave eh? He’s going easy on me. Holding Aven, so I really want to get it out. But that only leaves me with $2 to spend. And here we are again, unable to protect a hero. I can get newsman out, block grappling hook, and go SQL or Elite.

@FrozenStorm’s turn!

That definitely looks a little better

Thoughts

So, Newsy didn’t survive. Ugh, ok, a 1-drop would be super handy to be holding right now. I can search for it I guess…

So, on Frozen’s turn he can play Rook and the birds. Or, maxband Grave and take out two bodies. So I don’t super want to play a hero, because they’ll jsut eat a sword rune and give up two levels. the only two units I can field are musketeer, and then go searching for traffic director. Steadily going down on cards. But wait, I’d need a hero to cast lawful search and I can’t afford all that.

Tower’s no go, can’t afford to get that down and deploy two units. grave can max, huck a sword and then break the tower.

I could do nothing I guess? Worker, Tech 1 and save my cash? Grave can hit my tech1 and the birds will get it the turn after though… safely and all.

Dunno what to with Aven. Hitting a building seems fairly futile at this stage. At least hittting Grave means he has to level before doing much else… still somewhat impotent, but that’s the best I got I think.

@FrozenStorm’s turn!

Is your card count right? I think you should be 4/4 deck & discard

Thoughts

It’d be nice to just wall up and maybe consider teching up. But again, there’s such a versatility to how White could arrange damage output here

  • Can’t be sure I can patrol vs the Birds with Aven because Grappling Hook could undo Aven.
  • Or just a plain old Sensei’s Advice turn the birds into 2/1+AA Flying attackers.
  • Rook’s midband, or Grave’s maxband make it very difficult to play a hero safely.
  • Brave Knight can also eat a sword rune and not return to my hand - that’s a bit of a worry as well.

Tempted to just play a maxband Oni and knock the table. But I wouldn’t be able to afford a worker though, which seems a bit shortsighted.

Manufactured Truth has some potential applications here, but playing a Hero to cast it also seems shortsighted. And I dunno, the best result from an MTruth casting is Aven hitting Rook for 2 damage and Frozen has the funds to just heal up. But again, I think it’s the best I got?

My Thoughts

Aki’s really going all out. I feel it best to respond in kind here; no free card for Bigby, dump blockers to keep heroes safe, next turn maxband Rook for sure, probably Grave also but we’ll see

Woah there chief, you’re one gold short of maxing rook

Ah yes, ty. Originally I had considered skipping worker to maxband, but then realized I was reasonably safe to just leave Rook on 3/3 lvl 7 (reflected in my thoughts). Looks like I didn’t update my action summary text (just the gold) or board state, though, my bad on that!

So Grappling Hook is in the discard pile. That’s kinda nice to know, but I’m not sure what it gets me… Kinda want BI in SQL so he can’t be picked off by one bird alone.

I dunno, I think however I arrange this patrol there’s a fairly straight forward refutation from White. Especially after the depressing look at Frozen’s hand… Not a lot of use in weighing which bad choice is worst when the outcome of the game isn’t likely to be affected.

Well then, my one card draw turned out to be a Garrison! Will Tech II survive? Will I be able to protect the Garrison even if I can play it? Stay tuned as the drama unfolds!

@FrozenStorm’s turn!

I don’t think you can worker, and play two units, as you only had two cards (I moved bigby before killing him, so no technician)

Lawful search draw

Wait you’re right, hang on

Search + a unit would still mean you could unit or worker, but not both

One of the cards played this turn is also appearing in the worker list.

3 Likes

@Akiata can you offer clarity here on whether you’re skipping worker or one of those patrolling units?

Oof, sorry about that, clearly mistakes were made here. I’d like to unwind and figure it out, but I’ve run out of time. I’m off camping for the next 4 days and likely without access to the internets. Was going to try and get a turn in this morning but it seems unlikely now.

No sweat, have a nice trip!

Yeah, I think I might have taken a technician draw mistakenly there. My apologies.

I think the best thing to do is skip a worker here. But I need to unwind and redo my reshuffle, so here’s a whole new turn.

Well then, Traffic Director come off the deck instead of a Garrison… so where there was a bit of a glimmer of some potential drama, I can’t see Traffic Director delivering the same sort of wow-factor.
