Thoughts

I’m glad to see my Tech I building get targeted this time and the Imp land instead of the Heroes Hall. Since I have more leeway to work with than last game, I’ll gamble and aim for a turn 4 Judgment Day + Jurisdiction: Free Speech combo. There’s only a 25% chance of landing the draw timing, but if I do, it should be a powerful play. Even if I don’t, I may still be able to whip together a stopgap defense of one type or another, depending on how things play out.

Thoughts

A 3/4A Bigby can defend against a lone 4/5 Vandy, but a Lawful Search that yields a Traffic Director or Newsman can allow a defense that won’t leave Bigby at 1 hp. I want to build a Tech II next turn, however, as the longer I take to get Garrisons in play, the more opportunities there are to miss a Free Speech draw. Then again, Bigby’s draw and stash abilities are very useful for hand/deck management. I’ll spend a gold to peek and then decide how to procede. … Worst possible draw: Jurisdiction. Will have to stash it. Lawful Search confirms that units won’t stick. Sorry, Bigby.

Thoughts

That went better than expected, but now I have to choose between getting my Tech II out or protecting Bigby (thank you, Jurisdiction tax). I think getting the engine up and running is more pressing, especially since Bigby’s value just dropped by $2. It’s tempting to tech Cadet x2, but with so much riding on Sirus casting Free Speech next turn, I need to maximize the chances of drawing one (84% vs 93%, including Technician/Garrison draws) and guard against the worst-case scenario of having to discard my only copy.

Thoughts

Drawing both Law spells this turn really hurts. I can’t protect Quince, and even if I could somehow draw all the way to Jurisdiction, there’s no remaining Free Speech to pull from my Codex. My only hope now is that I can use the Newsman to stall for a turn until I can resummon Quince, which is very unlikely considering the versatility I’m facing… even if I get lucky enough to Lawful Search.
