My opinion of this map, blue has an advantage because of free speech and the relatively cheap ultimates. The map encourages spell techs. Carrion curse can be a good counter, I think, but free speech has more utility and is 1g cheaper.

VORTOSS RUINS: Players can’t build the heroes’ hall or tech lab add-ons, but automatically get their effects.
For the free Tech Lab, my thought is that a second tech spec is chosen when the tech 2 is built. If you want to change a spec later, spend 1g and take 2 base damage.
Yeah this map I think is very much in Black’s favor (auto hero’s hall early is free gold and pressure for black), though I can see having easier access to Quince for Free Speech and Truth T2 + Peace T2 might work out in your favor? Or it could just be a P1 benefit? Let’s see!

Well, this is just a terrible hand. I suppose I could put out Bigby midband and he would survive, but it wouldn’t be very productive the following turn. On the other hand… I could throw out both Oni and Bigby, block with bigby, the free levels to vandy kinda suck, but he only gets those by midbanding, and his 1g blocker is already down, so Oni would actually get to respond a bit more effectively… Its crazy, but it might be worth it. God I hate porkhand magistrate in this matchup.
Well, he went for the block, and his bet on arrest paid off, sadly. However! I can still capitalize on this situation maybe? If I can get 2 things to live, I might get some elite training fun.

Thoughts
I could use Oni to kill BC and leave his tech 2 alone, or sideline BC with Bigby and break his tech 2. he definitely doesn’t have any tech 2 stuff in hand yet, so he’s probably going to make a push for heroes or use Garth to summon a unit. Dozer or maybe something else… heroes seem most likely given he knows I have JD now. Setup for meta seems likely. I am going to gamble that I have a soldier left alive to use MT for a Bone collector, but he could use Orpal to clear my patrol. But that will also cost him.
