The worker snipe! Nicely played, grabbing Boot Camp to hopefully keep his tech 2 down, and a Gunship so it’s floating around the deck for me.

I have to get the haunt to prevent Zane from breaking through this patrol with only deteriorate, I want to force Deteriorate + StW

AND FUCK I drew the gunship :frowning: I was ~80% to draw it next turn, suuuucks but I guess I’m making him skip draw / discard so that’s nice.

What is skip time bomb activate

“Draw-Skip Time Bomb” aka Prynn’s rarely utilized mid-band. She’s at fade 1, my next upkeep she will fade away and cause you to skip discard/draw unless you kill her before that, which I’m reasonably sure requires you to be holding either Sharks or Deteriorate + StW.

So I made up some flavor to make you aware of it / draw your attention to her and not my tech 2 XD

Lol hell ya you are, that’s certainly game! GG WP, I really should have just gone peace engine rather than trying to race as P1, that boosted Marauder hurt a ton!

I think that’s the first time a BOOSTED Marauder did something good for me. I wonder how rich earth + Marauder would go - massive compounding economic advantages

Now that you’ve played a number of games against this deck and in this matchup, what’s your opinion of the deck, my play, etc?

This definitely gave me a new respect for purple starter plus that nasty chaos mirror trick with nullcraft and of course boot camp. I wonder if it would perform better with finesse Instead of anarchy

At a tech conference today, can give more thorough thoughts later. Finesse is fun with graveyard

Okay so some deeper thoughts on your deck and play:

Deck

  • Your deck covers all of the “bases” of versatility reasonably well, and has
  • You’re a little light on unit hate (which is weird to say about a black starter deck, but Deteriorate and StW get expensive to cast off-color)
  • Your heroes don’t have great “spell / ability synergy”, where playing with multiple heroes early gives you a lot of advantage. Skeletons + Midbandori or Chaos Mirror is about it.
  • I don’t really see your deck playing for other win conditions than Gunships or skeleton spam, and those are different enough that it’s pretty easy to see which you’ll be going for and counter gameplan. It doesn’t seem easy to feint or pivot.
  • I think I’d probably ditch Midori for Vandy, to give you another win condition to play for (Meta). You lose upgrade hate until Tech 3, but you gain so much more early pressure. I don’t think Finesse subbing in for Anarchy is a good move, as it loses you a win condition, and only wins you some AoE in Discord and T1 Haste in Fencers.

Play

  • Great to tech in Nature Reclaims, might want one of them in the deck a turn sooner (like in game 3, grabbing it instead of the Monkey)
  • I think teching Bone Collectors as P2 in game 4 there is generally worse than Taxman, especially against Nullcraft.
  • I think you made good choices with the cards you drew, generally, and capitalized on opportunities well.
  • I didn’t like the Jandra start game 3, she’s a liability for your unit pool and against PPA that is able to get good defensive trades, you’re not likely to make a big play with her, especially without Vandy for a quick buff
  • Tiny B was good against Oni start, nice tech
  • That boosted marauder… I did not see that coming, and should not have telegraphed my “race to tech 3” plan (or just not raced at all ^_^)
  • Generally Mox and Nullcraft and Fargo are just tough for your deck to deal with, so I don’t think there’s much you can really do besides run specs that can deal with them better

The alternate win condition is mimics/trex, with the zane for haste. I have almost never teched in necro t2. The idea with finesse was some unit hate in discord (which would be great in this matchup) and fencers for haste, but anarchy is probably generally better.

I like balance for the upgrade/building hate, but it’s also there for moments peace. It makes crashbarrows total junk, and besides mono vandy mono rook or Peace engine crashbarrows is one the most powerful win conditions. The basilisk are also good, but I ended up not teching them as much against you because eager cadet trades so well with them.

I think if I was to change anything it would be necro. It’s really for the solid starter, bone collectors and anti hero hate with netherdrain. Also lots of good Garth maxband targets in this deck, but maybe swapping for vandy or even calamandra or rook would be more optimal. Honestly don’t want to play demon because I think vandy is broken and some Johnny part of my brain won’t let me play her even if she’s optimal. But hell I think pirate ship is also broken and I’m running anarchy so what the hell.

I thought Vandy was broken for awhile too, but I think it’s really only the combination of Vandy and Garth that’s so tough to deal with. Vandy without Garth actually had a lot of counter play, I’d encourage you to check my games against Zhavier where I was trying demon strength growth. Vandy was not super helpful against PPA

Well if I want to improve the PPA matchup what should I add as starter hero then

Cool I’m game for that. Sorry for not answering your previous question, but I just don’t know PPA well enough to make a good recommendation. Rook over Garth isn’t a bad idea to try though

It still includes some hero hate, and rook applies a lot more pressure than Garth does. I do lose collectors but birds are pretty damn good, plus entangling vines is some bonus unit hate
