This matchup again. But now I am player one.
No tenderfoot turn 1 is unfortunate, but I will work around it. I’m opting for the aggressive opener here, with two combat tricks turn two. Playing a hero is not very safe for him.

Thoughts
hate being in a position just giving away free levels… it will be suicide trying to overpower rook though… just gotta play underdog and not mess with rook… let him kill river and skip tech i instead… this is really not me but i think i gotta throw some curve balls to shake his gameplans… he knows me too well…
Ok we workered fruit ninja, good news so far.
I decided killing River here wasn’t worth it, because I want to tech up, but I am going to get birds out and try to midband rook next turn. If I can maxband him turn 4, that sets me up for some punishing earthquakes. We’ll see what happens I suppose.
Good redraw here, I should be able to apply a lot of pressure, and it doesn’t even matter if rook dies. Good vibes all round.
I thought about the line that cleared his board, but Rook dies to lobber, flame arrow, fencer, or wither, so the chance of him dying was too high. I’m instead opting for the safe play.
And this time, I’m teching discord!
Take the kill, don’t need to tech up yet, so I’ll develop board position. Next turn, tech up, try to break tech 2 if I can? And try to keep rook alive for earthquake.
Turn after either tech up or earthquake or sharks or something. I have options.
This game is basically on a knife’s edge right now. It’s going to be tricky to finesse my way through his burn spells. Just have to hope he slips up and I can break through.
I think you really found the holy grail. Your deck feels even more stronger than Miracle grow and Nightmare. I think the key is how to exploit Rook’s op ness and Neutral starter was the right choice.
