I did, but how? I’ve been using the spreadsheet… Wait, I think I know what happened. I accidentally forgot to move a worker out of my hand on the first turn, so I moved it from the discard pile and clicked Generate, but I never adjusted the actual gold for the new turn. Whoops!
Sorry to keep you waiting for so long, but I think there’s little I can do to come back from a blow-out like that. Good game! I feel like Red and Green aren’t really the right colors for me… I can do well with them, but against anyone who’s reasonably good I just fall apart (though part of it could be the play-by-forum format, that can’t be the entire issue). Right now I’m trying White in my other forum games and enjoying it, so if you’re OK with it I’d like to try Purple and see how that works.
[details=Summary]
I suspect that was one of the more awkward starting hands I could have, but since this is my first time playing Purple I can’t say for sure. At least Fading Argonaut in Squad Leader completely negates Bloodrage Ogre’s early game advantage (he has to damage it with something and then attack, so it’ll cost more cards and/or gold than I spent to block with it).
I wasn’t sure which hero (if any!) I should use, but I decided to go with Geiger because I want to try this multi-color codex at some point. Practicing using Geiger in his own color seems useful if he’s going to be an important part of that build…
[/details]
I did warn you at the start of all this that I may take a while between turns…

Thoughts
Not the best hand for that board position, but I think I’ll be OK… If nothing else, I’ll be able to use Stewardess to bounce one of his units next turn, though I question how valuable that will end up being. Unless something drastic changes my mind soon, I’m probably going with Present Tech II this game. Why? Mostly because it’s simpler, but also because the shenanigans that Temporal Distortion would let me pull with that spec seem amazing.

Quick edit where in i don’t patrol zane as if he has readiness
Ouch… It’s pretty clear that I don’t get Purple yet, though part of it was having really weird hands for the first two turns.

Thoughts
I should have level Geiger to midband… Well, hopefully I can turn this around before too long. Maybe it’s a mistake to build Tech II here instead of a Tower, but I just want to get the money commitment done on a turn where there wasn’t that much else to spend it on. It’s looking like I’ll get a couple more turns out of Hardened Mox, so it’s getting me some value. Hyperion next turn will help to hold him off, but as always I need to see what he does.

Thoughts
I can feel how suboptimal my play is, but I think I’m starting to understand… He’s going for Anarchy, which means haste and stalling for Tech III. If I can break his Tech II building at some point, I might be able to win this… Though I feel somewhat tempted to use Temporal Distortion on an Immortal at some point to get a Hive, since that would provide many, many chump blockers against a flying Tech III. Probably not worth it, though.

Not even going to look at what card I draw, since all I have right now is Hyperion, Battle Suits, and two spells. There’s no coming back from that one… Good game! Were the hands I got turn 1 and 2 as bad as I think? They felt hard to use…
Really, having both Mox and Plasmodium in my 2nd hand and all my other units in the 1st? I guess I don’t understand purple at all… Maybe once I get the physical expansion I can try it some more. Figuring it out on the forums seems like it isn’t going to work for me, at least for now.
@Hobusu having Fargo turn 1 is about as good as you hope for as Purple as you can see it traded super well! The problem comes in summoning a hero early as purple, especially against the haste of Red. Bringing out Geiger and not leveling him to keep him safe was a pretty good bet he’d be giving up levels, and that hurt you.
I guess that’s fair. It didn’t help that I had just been playing White, which has extremely reliable combat heroes. Again, I’ll probably give Purple more of a chance once I can try it IRL.
