Assimilate
Assimilate is a thought, its just whether the tempo + tech loss against black is survivable (reason I havn’t teched it the last few games). Once black gets ahead, its really hard to crawl back a board against it. Definitely something to try though
Agreed, I’ve been somewhat-expecting Assimilate but in order to do it, you have to spend 5 gold and leave Vir exposed.
I’m not sure there’s a great way to deal with it early. Mox + Nullcraft are my go-to countermeasures against Black starter (sans Vir). Nullcraft + Argo and Fargo I think are pretty solid bangers. But idk that Assimilate is the right approach, unless you immediately follow it up with Origin Story and somehow find the money in doing all that to tech up to Hyperions. That could be just stall-y (as P2 anyway) to put Purple on the backfoot and reach a point of advantage for yourself.

My Thoughts
Shadow Blade, pretty nice. The discard means I’m mostly eliminating fast-teching for him as a useful option. Jav in SQL gives me the best chance to keep him for attacking next turn. I’ll either be playing for Turn 5 or 6 meta, so teching a Dark Pact for now, and a Hooded Exec for flexibility later. If I’m teching up next turn, I’ll probably bring in Gorgon or Ghoul + Meta or maybe Sickness / Soul Stone
