Thoughts

Just keep building up…! I’ve positioned myself so that Setsuki should be fairly safe and is a less compelling target than other heroes currently on the board (partly because she’s still only a 1/3 this turn and partly because it costs extra to attack her). If she survives to next turn I probably will max her to get the draw engine going. Maybe have her hide behind a Bloomed Glorious Ninja? We’ll see.

@zhavier’s turn!

Thoughts

Hitting Shadow’s guys for (relatively) easy bounty, cause I still think he’s scarier than Zhavier or Bob. Playing Tiger and Garg for a possible evasive hit on someone next turn, though I doubt anyone will be low enough on life for me to kill: Tiger + Garg + Rampant Growth + Forest’s Favor + stealth Cal = 12 (If I can somehow keep my board and also afford maxband Cal + midband Troq that rises to 15). Not healing my base this turn to prevent being targeted.

Thoughts

Can I paint a bigger target on my back? :sweat_smile: If Setsuki and my new Surplus somehow both survive I’ll be drawing back up to 5 cards after discarding 0, which is pretty impressive! Fox’s Den Students is the obvious plan here, and I’m expecting it to be respected (in other words, she’s probably already dead). Still, as long as at least one hero and Glorious Ninja survive, I can Bloom the ninja next turn and plop it in Elite for a nearly unbreakable wall to stall behind. If I can get Fox’s Den School up to make Glorious Ninja invisible, then it’ll be as close to invincible as possible without access to a better source of +1/+1 runes. In hindsight, maybe getting a Tech Lab for Grounded Guide could have helped? Probably not worth it, but an amusing thought (7 ATK invisible swift strike patroller can’t be beaten by anything that targets or has less than 8 HP).

Edit: adjusted Base HP to correct value

@zhavier’s turn!

#27

Sorry for the delay, this is getting so very complicated. And I don’t see how tric is scarier than a porcupine wall protecting the ever growing board of Hobusu. And Dreamfire isn’t much better. And shadow is about to drill sergeant his way to victory.

Thoughts

Shadow did me 2 great services by getting rid of Bob’s Bugblatter and Hobusu’s Porcupine. And with Bob pinging Hobusu down to 17 earlier, I can finish him while healing up!

#33

Rm with new specs?

#34

That was an interesting experience, though I’m not sure I want to do another one for a while. At the very least I think I’d like to do a real-life FFA sometime so I can get a better grasp on the dynamics. I had a feeling I’d doomed myself when I took my last turn, though I didn’t know my doom would be quite that literal! :smile:

#35

Funny thing is, shadow had drill sergeants he could have lent to patrol, if he had seen dreamfire’s win coming. Admittedly, dreamfire’s board was fairly large.

As for the Dynamics of FFA? It’s pretty much chaos and table talk distracting you from the real threats. And the fact that someone inevitably plays a crucial role in someone else’s victory.

#36

I could have lent them. but that would have defeated the purpose of killing the porcupine, which was that sets did really need to die. I was busy doing the math of how much damage everyone else had I forgot about DreamFire (which is often what causes the win, a slip up or unexpected burst)

#37

I feel like I lucked into my win, though you might say the “strategy” of keeping my head down panned out. Like Shadow said, apparently all it takes is a single turn under a single person’s radar to sneak in a win.
I’d be interested in another game, although maybe having fewer players would make it more manageable? I suspect that even with just 3 players, things would play out very differently than a normal game.

#38

My experience with 3 players is that someone is inevitably put in the position of kingmaker, meaning they have no chance of winning, but get take action that would cause one of the other 2 to win.

#39

Oh right, that makes sense. But anyway, I’m up for another game with random codices and however many players are interested.

#40

I wouldn’t mind another game, but would quite like to have my choice of codex personally.

#41

I’m up for more ffa, choosing specs or random are both fine

#42

Let’s do a blind pick. We each get to choose, but put your pick in a spoiler. I’m game for another match. I’ll see if anyone will fill the fifth slot.
