Thoughts

I canā€™t seem to find a good opener against red. I may have forced a Mox T1 without a good T2 hand to follow through. A Fading Argonaut would have been ideal here, otherwise Neo Plexus. Perhaps this wasnā€™t the best opening considering my T1 hand. Iā€™m sticking with stewardess opener if I can draw her T3 then sheā€™ll be useful, otherwise, T4 stewardess likely will lose value. He may be able to take my tech 1 out, but I think my best bet is to take that risk at this point.

Yeah Purpleā€™s slow start is tough against Redā€™s aggro, though Mox makes it expensive for me to try to blast through. And youā€™ve the stronger Tech2s to look forward to.

I need to go down a card to keep Ogre alive and Jaina safe from possible Mox + Nullcraft + Stewardess. Teching 2xCrash Bombers, look to deliver a steady trickle of Base damage on top of the 4HP delivered here ā€“ first time Iā€™ve tried one of these.

Thatā€™s true. If purple can hold out against redā€™s aggro without losing too much tempo, then its a good set-up. Seems red needs to make those early efficient trades, even as P2, in order to be in good position.

Thoughts

Dealing 2 dmg to Jaina puts petE in a position where he either goes tech 2 and maxes Jaina without worker, or leaves her open to a Nullcraft kill. A GPT would at least take out the NC, but should still be worth it on my end. Definitely will bring in Geiger if I can pull of the kill for the free levels. Iā€™ll likely bring him in regardless. Somehow my tech 1 survived this turn. I feel him taking it out would have been his best move if possible. Now I can slowly regain tempo and go for tech 2 asap where purple shines.

Teching 2 Tricycloids to deal with Jaina, whoā€™ve I already dealt 1 dmg to thankfully. Heā€™s taking a complete base race on from here. Iā€™m suspecting heā€™ll bring out Jainaā€™s Burning Volley next turn with a good draw, to chip further away at my base, and maybe take out NC +/- Plexus, or even tech 2 if he wants. He may even skip tech 2 ? lets see. Tricylcoids + Now next turn will be great although Iā€™m 1 gold short with Geiger and Worker. Killing Jaina regardless will be my priority.

Ouch-- heā€™s brought my base down to 6HP already, which is damn impressive. Red can be so explosive int hese base races, Iā€™ve never thought of Pillage being used like that just for base dmg. Interesting Play. He has the upper hand for sure, but I have a shot still I think. I had a good draw here with TC and Now, and taking out his Tech 2. I could have had Neo Plexus deal 3dmg to his Tech 1 building, although Iā€™m thinking the base dmg is more important at this point. Geiger in SQL is safest bet-- canā€™t let him break through. Lobber + Zane next turn would be pretty bad. I think I need 2 more turns and Iā€™ll win this base race, although I donā€™t think, with 6HP, iā€™ll be around 2 turns. If geiger survies, max him out next turn + another TC.

Ah, damn. Yea nothing I can do to stop Jainaā€™s spells.

That was the first time Iā€™ve had such a base race. The game moves much quicker than I thought. Not really sure what I couldā€™ve done differently to stop you. WP, youā€™ve done red a good justice.

Youā€™re playing surprisingly well with Red for ā€œnot having played much with themā€ previously =) Iā€™m happy to keep these games going, switch red vs purple (see how you would play it), or try other monocolors if you want.
