Thoughts

Not going to complain about having card advantage versus Black. But is this still an aggressive Vandy opening, or a slow weenies opening?

If Nope’s just using the Skeletons to start a wall, I can go for Tiny Basilisk + Bloodlust/Moment’s Peace, maybe Nature Reclaims later for Skeleton Archery, or Bird’s Nest for better efficiency than non-upgraded Skeletons. Thunderclap isn’t so great if Tiny Basilisk is my only Tech I unit. Or Ardra’s Boulder + Mythmaking, given Nope’s lack of upgrade removal? Too many options…

But he can easily focus on Vandy instead, in which case… Tiny Basilisk is still fine. The problem would be if Bone Collectors turn up. Birds should still be good for a while if Rook dies, since the lack of Disease means Nope’s anti-air options aren’t so good.

The units I have in hand are pretty expensive, and good Sacrifice the Weak fodder. I think that gives me a choice between levelling Rook to block up, or assuming he’ll die and going for Bloodlust. Alternatively, Nope has no upgrade removal, so I could open with a mythical Ardra’s Boulder.

Going for Basilisk and Ardra’s Boulder. It’s a slow-starting combo, but with the Panda out, and Tiger Cub for more retaliation damage if needed, I should have a decent amount of blocking power and some insurance against Sacrifice the Weak. Next tech can depend on what’s alive. Later on, if he goes hard into Skeletons, I can shoot for DeGrey. If not, I can go for Balance’s flying wrecking ball.

Thoughts

Rook’s death was expected, but I didn’t really plan around the doom. Killing Rook is 5 gold for 1 card, so pretty in Nope’s favour, but unless he’s going for Dark Pact he’s going down on cards.

6 gold after worker gives a few options. I could play Spore Shambler to pop the Hound, although that does let his hand recover. I could play Young Treant to fish for the Basilisk or the Boulder, but drawing the Rampant Growth would really hurt with my small board size. I think my best option is to play Spore Shambler and Tiger Cub, and wait for Tech I cards. Teching in Bloodlust to get the Basilisk moving, and Crash Bomber as a cheap blocker / Illusion popper. No Heroes’ Hall for Nope yet, so I’m guessing he won’t go for an early Metamorphosis.

Using a new random number for the card discard, if you don’t mind? It’s just so I don’t have to reshuffle my hand after the technician draw instead, which the spreadsheet would do if I was using it.

Thoughts

Ouch, I thought the tree was safe. I could kill Vandy off with Drakk + Bloodlust + Rampant Growth, but I’d have to skip a worker or Tech I. I think I just put Rook down and tower up, Nope could have a Metamorphosis in hand by now if he’s going for a quick beatdown. Going for Balance for the untargetable Basilisks, and Fairie Dragons can help pop any illusions that appear.

Thoughts

Good grief. At least I still have the Basilisk in hand, but between Deteriorate and Sacrifice the Weak, and Vandy’s low health, I might be better off with Tiger Cub, so I can get a patrol bonus. Actually, no Tiny Basilisk is better if he doesn’t attack and just puts some big Demonology II units down. Either way, I have a good chance of drawing a Crash Bomber next turn, so the Drakk assault should be ready to go. If I put Midori down now, then Nope has to suicide Vandy to kill him, even if he gets Metamorphosis out. If he doesn’t kill him, I can hope for some free levels.

Thoughts

OK, still behind but at least I’m not facing demon heroes. Garth can fetch some nasty things with Nope choosing Demonology, though. I’ve got some spare gold, so I could pour it into Drakk or go for Tech III. The latter leaves me 6 gold, enough for a Potent Basilisk and both Crash Bombers. Is that good? Maybe not while that Hound is out. Problem is, a hasted Crash Bomber won’t do anything, since the Skeleton won’t kill it. On the other hand, the Spore Shambler could kill the Hound right now for 4 gold, and I’d have 7 gold left for… OK, maybe Tech III is fine here, then, and I block with a Crash Bomber and don’t go down on cards. I fancy my chances of getting it to stick, with Nope still down on cards.

I forgot this game was still going and repurposed the sheet. Sorry

No worries. Shadow’s comments were pretty spot on as far as things went so far, I think. If you want to have another go or try a different deck, let me know.
