Thoughts
Ok, I suck at math. He had a 4 card hand and a 5-card deck. Surely there is no way he will cycle. Unless you count the tech draw, switching him to a 5-card hand and a 4-card deck. Then all he has to do is either make a worker and play 1 card or play 2 cards to cycle. Which he did. Now I don’t know where the BAs are, but it seems quite unlikely he hit one (1/11?). So Community Service gets stashed and my sick BA turn may never happen. Well, what can we do instead? We dont need to tech or worker anymore. I could draw with Scribe/Bigby but drawing Judgment Day would force me to stash that instead. I can’t even cast Free Speech because I let Quince die in a dumb patrol. Manufactured Truth would be an OK draw, Jail would be OK, I guess. Injunction is great, Justice Juggernaut is great. I think I have to go for a draw because playing all my little nerds without B.A. is unappealing. -=-=- And I drew exactly Judgment Day, lol. Damn. Uhhh, I still REALLY want to have CS, but I also need Judgment Day. Hmmm.
Yes I’ll submit a turn later today

Thoughts
This feels like GG, probably gonna have Injunction for next turn.
GG. Judgement day is brutal. How should I even play around it as Green?
In other games like Magic you have to be careful not to build an overly large board when you know they have sweepers. You want to play just enough that they have to play Judgement Day, but not so much that it really hurts. For example, this game you dropped double BA against Blue. If I don’t have Judgement Day, I surely lose. But if I do, it makes it so you almost surely lose. I think it would have been correct to play 1 Blooming Ancient there instead of 2. Also, Midori is immune to Judgement Day and probably really good in this match-up because the ideal Judgement Day is when I have crappy units and you have good units and something like Arg.
Basically, I think Arg is great against the illusion side of Blue (which you have clearly seen), but not great against the Control side. Cards like Murkwood Allies are great against Judgement Day. They are good because you create a ton of threats for just 1 card. Threats which demand a Judgement Day are great. But you can still over-extend and lose it all. You don’t need 8 frogs to tease out a JD, 4 is plenty (along with a unit or two). So it becomes a bit of a guessing game when you fight control because on the one hand, you don’t want to overcommit and get blown out by it, but on the other hand, you need to have enough to make me want to do it AND then you have a brutal turn immediately afterwards.
The fact that Bigby lets me stash cards makes it even more likely that if Bigby is alive, I will have access to JD. So killing Bigby can also give you some breathing room where you know that I can’t JD for that window of time. Of course, Bigby is awesome and I can summon + JD, but that is very very expensive (10g total 2+4+4). That gives you another angle to exploit - if I don’t have access to 10g, I can’t just JD out of nowhere. So counting my resources is another way you can check to see whether you need to be worried about it.
Overall:
- Leverage heroes like Cal/Midori to lessen the blow of JD, Arg not so much. Arg is great AFTER a JD to rebuild, however.
- Be aware of Bigby and my gold. Kill Bigby if you can to give yourself a window with no JD potential.
- Don’t overcommit to the board. There aren’t many wrath effects in Codex, so typically more dudes = better, but Blue can punish that hard. Put out just enough to force the issue.
- Play cards that generate a lot of threat by themselves - Murkwood Allies, Wandering Mimic (with Midori?), basilisks, etc.
