Thoughts

Since my base seems very safe and I’m in the driver’s seat, I’m teching in Firebats this round, probably some spells next round.

@NikoBolas - I think it’s irrelevant as it turns out, but you can’t actually build Tech 1 until you have at least 6 workers. So it’s impossible for P1 to do so on T1.

Yeah, I usually pretend to build it Turn 1 as P1 instead of floating the gold, accomplishes the same thing unless your opponent has Haste.

I’m not totally sure if you wanted Graves or Calamandra. I think it’s Cally because you said her in the notes and gave Fox Viper resist 1, but you have Graves listed “In Play”. Either way, I’ve thrown caution to the wind and attacked your buildings not your hero!

Thoughts

Ok, so a lot of different things I could do this turn. I went with maximizing base damage and letting him have a hero. If it’s graves he does get a sword, but most of my stuff was really cheap anyway. Also he can’t summon Zane while he has a hero so it limits his hasty options a little. If he knew his tech I was going to be destroyed, he might have tech’d spells rather than tech I units, and the nastiest 2 I can think of are reversal on firebat (if it’s graves) or Murkwood Allies (if it’s Cally). Both are pretty bad, reversal means he can kill Drakk and Murkwood puts a lot of bodies in his Patrol Zone. Both fortunately are rather expensive and I’m hoping next turn I can turtle up a little and build Tech II.

[details=Thoughts][spoiler]Well this turned out radically different than I planned. I always wanted to build Tech II (Fire), so that was 4 gold allocated. I was planning on workering Pillage, but he must have thought I already have! This is a really nice turn to Pillage because I can use the extra gold very efficiently to get a max Drakk and build tech II. It does leave me with a quandary as to what to worker. I can see Scorch being a decent spell after I get hotter fire online, Charge is always awesome, so honestly Im thinking of workering the second Firebat. 3/3 for 2 is nice but we’re getting firebirds as the end-game (and maybe a dragon?!). I’m not sure what his response will be, he has access to Zane and could conceivably kill Drakk, but I think he’ll want to build Tech II himself. With Graves dead it will have to be Calamandra and a unti, I’d imagine?

After drawing: Boy I’m a lucksack. I was almost going to hire the Firebat and float 2 gold to use Drakk’s max-band, but decided I should be disciplined and stick with tech II and the reward is great - Molting Firebird in my next hand![/spoiler][/details]

I couldn’t find an image of 1st edition Grave with a quick Google search, but he’s never been “Graves.” If you look at literally any Sirlin Games product that includes his name (aka all of them so far), it’s spelled “Grave Stormborne.” Maybe you subconsciously moved the S from the start of his last name to the end of his first?

Actually, and to make Niko feel less bad, for ages I thought his and Jaina’s surname was “Stormbone”. It was only recently that I noticed the R I was missing, which gives a slightly different complexion to the name :slight_smile:
