Yeah, because Rampant Growth doesn’t specify that it must target a friendly unit or hero, it can legally target the Flagbearer, and so it must. Forest’s Favor, on the other hand, can’t target opposing units, so you could use that if you have it in hand.

Well, this is a surprisingly awkward situation. If he’s willing to trade hero for hero, I won’t be able to count on casting Carrion Curse next turn, and I can’t count on being able to use Snapback to pull in Midori and kill him. All things considered, I think it’s safer to lose Grave and gamble on drawing Carrion Curse.
