Two things I learned new are 1. Metamorphosis gives Vandy the benefits, I never knew this because it says non-Demon heroes. I was like maybe it’s not necessary to kill Vandy this time. 2. Invisible retains untargettable when patrolling, didn’t know about this one either which made me think oh I can just shove him with Zane. Glad you demonstrared how these work, I would’ve never figured out myself. Now I see, why Demonology can be so strong.

Yeah, Vandy only becomes a Demon after casting Metamorphosis. The Demon-aspect of her ult means that once it affects a hero, it can’t affect that same hero again until that hero leaves play. It also means that Shrine of Forbidden Knowledge can make your heroes unstoppable even in the face of Eyes of the Chancellor. Scary, scary stuff.

I put together this build for its many strong combos, but struggled in some matchups due to over-focusing on those combos, so I wanted to try aiming for Meta first and then deploying combos later. Although, I guess Meta’s so devastating that it largely makes the combos obsolete… still, it’s good to have as an alternate strategy.

I’ve lost to Meta a lot but generally haven’t had much success using it myself. I think just aggressively making use of Gargoyles and Shadow Blade makes a big difference in helping Vandy dominate. Self-destructive effects from StW, Vandy’s maxband, Jandra’s trigger, and Meta can all skip over the Gargoyles nicely, which helps a lot in maintaining pressure. GG though, you had me worried with all that haste, especially when you out-teched me, and I wonder how much harder it would have been if the discard effects weren’t so lucky.

GG WP! Really good game and lots learned in one game. I was already scared of Meta without knowing it affects Vandy, so tried everything to stop it from happening. I had my post ready with that in mind and last minute, immenent Gunships let my guaurd down. Codex is such a beautifuly designed game. I can’t stop being amazed by how different each game feels every time I play this game. Thanks again for your guidance, really appreciate your comments.

Actually I will take it back, just looked thru them and it doesn’t look like a good option against Blue. Stay with Red, sorry about that.

Ah, right, I should have noticed that, don’t know how I missed it. All right, Red it is. (Neutral is a bit weaker than other starters, but makes up for it by not having any multicolor penalties to cast its spells, and it’s very well-rounded.) I’ll flesh out my build to [Law/Peace]/Past. (Can’t let you chain all those free units from Maestro and Pirate-Gang Commander with Flagstone Garrison!)

I will go with [Blood]/Finesse/Strength. I had a direction I was going but your choice of heroes really made me reconsider everything. Draft is really adding another level of thinking. Very exciting! I want to back it up now :slight_smile:
