Thoughts

The units lose resist when calamandra dies, so I’m not sure why that’s causing you grief?

Also keep in mind that ferocity is in effect, so my units have swift strike.

I never attacked a unit, so ferocity doesn’t matter.To max geiger I need to kill Cal and Arg. To kill arg I need to hit him with a now! tricycloid will all the runes still on it, so maxing Geiger then means I miss 3 shots with tricycloid. So I must kill Cal first. Tricycloid shots are targeted, so I can’t hit your units without paying 1 gold per shot, gold I don’thave, so Cal must be my first shot with, wasting the other two when Geiger maxes. Unless I missed something obvious, that is why Cal’s resist is really annoying.
