Fliers cannot ignore flying patrollers. The usual rules of the patrol zone apply, meaning if you want to attack with a flier at all, that flier CAN attack patrolling fliers so it must do that rather than attack other things such as non-patrollers or tech buildings. — Sirlin
To mean that you’d have to attack the patrolling bird before you can attack anything. But the way you understand is that it blocks you from attacking non-patrollers but allows you to attack non-flying patrollers? Is that the case?
I’m pretty sure what that means is that while flyers normally can ignore the usual attacking rules and attack what they like, if there is a flying patroller, then it cannot be ignored, and the normal attacking rules apply. However, once the Squad Leader is dead, I don’t need to ignore the normal rules, because I’m allowed to attack someone in Scavenger normally. So I’m not ignoring your flyer, I’m attacking a legal target. If your bird was in Squad Leader I wouldn’t be able to ignore it and attack scavenger because the attacking rules say that you have to attack Squad Leader if there’s a unit there.
Though in this case it wasn’t about the SQL dying, but about the fact it didn’t have flying. You could have attacked the bird even before Cuddles died.
I see the point - all the patrollers, other than squad leaders, are in one line. And the bird blocks your way to anything behind that line but not to anyone in the line. I thought that as long as the bird is in the line you’d have to attack it but I now see what you mean.
Yes, you’re right, I could have killed Sparring Partner with Aven even if Cuddles was in Squad Lead. Sorry if that was misleading.

Thanks for the gracious game, @jadiel. I definitely learned how to play by forum and I enjoyed the game, but there’s clearly a big skill difference and it takes some time to learn the cards. I’d love to play some more but it would probably be better to find an opponent of my level?
No, not at all - if you had patrolled bird in SQL and I couldn’t have killed Setsuki, I think she could have caused me a lot of trouble. I also misplayed on turn 4 I think, I shouldn’t have patrolled either Hound, as I was pretty sure you couldn’t get through Oni in SQL, and I was opening myself up to Grappling Hook. Although you could have used GHook to kill Oni then I guess.
I’ve never played blue before, so it was an interesting experience. I’m up for another game if you are?
ETA: I don’t think the skill difference is as big as you think, but if you’d prefer to play against someone else, that’s fine
I patrolled it in Elite to kill your Aven if you attacked it, because it gave me a tremendous headache.
I’m happy to play again, if you don’t mind the fact that I don’t know what I’m doing. I would love to play purple of black. You can play whatever you like.
I told you that I have no clue what I’m doing. Even though I’ve already played against blue and suffered from that damned Aven. So I took care of it now. I took care of it NOW!

Just a question: here, you could have attacked first with Oni and then cast Lawful Search to see my hand including the new card, correct? The only wrinkle is that if you did that we wouldn’t be able to play easily on the forum as we do because You’d have to stop your turn to see what I draw?
