Yeah, I mistakenly thought that the one Dozer behind lines would be safe. I’m quite liking this forum method to play honestly. I think I will learn a lot.

I feel more comfortable as P2 in this matchup, Jandra is a bold start I think I can punish. Wouldn’t be surprised to get Imp next turn, we’ll see I spose

Jandra is likely going to get picked off by the nullcraft, but in the chance that it doesn’t I’m going to tech spells assuming Vandy will live. I’m hoping to move into cursed crows in the future as well, so the shadow blade could synergize with that. Experimenting anyway.

I really wanted to get at least one of those Shadow Blades, oh well. Level up Vandy to kill it instead. I’m expecting the hammer next turn with that extra gold he is carrying over.
You’ve got it right, basically either using random.org to roll a number out of N (n being the number of cards in their hand) or just picking a number without looking at their hand.

Oooof that Imp discard hurts… Well I just want to ensure I get to keep my tech2 for next turn, think the only way I don’t is if he’s holding 2x Shadow Blade which I sorta doubt. Stick sacrificial Vir in SQL and ping Vandy for no free levels, if he has one shadow blade so be it not much I can do

Teching Plague Spitters to help defend vs flying. Decided to attack since I doubt Vandy will be able to stop stuff on patrol. I’m going to assume my Tech II has a decent chance of being destroyed.
remember that anti air does not prevent flyers to bypass patrol, they simply take dmg when they do. (EG: if a void star destroys your tech II flying over a plague spitter it takes 3 mg, but still destroys the tech II cuz dmg applies at the same time)
Thanks, good to have the reminder. I hope it will at least be able to kill it when it does fly over. Chances are my Tech II is getting taken out though or a buffed attack against my base.

I was really trying to get one of those crows out. My draw was another Shadow Blade. Kind of a loss there. At least I have a spitter to kill the void star potentially.

My Thoughts
Well I feel like kiiind of a moron for not realizing
Plague spitter really shits on Ready or Not, and
I’m one gold short of GEIGER + spell + pump…
That said, I think I can salvage this for lethal next turn… Though I am risking StW vulnerability with Orpal potentially coming out next turn. Ah well, I suppose I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it
In this case, both Cursed Crows had been teched already. But Garth’s maxband ability is a strong incentive for leaving a copy of important response cards in your codex, so they can be teched and fetched in the same turn in an emergency, without depending on the whims of card draw.
That depends on thinking of the Crow as a response rather than part of your main strategy picks, of course If you’re going for Disease, the Crow’s main draw is the card drain, which is more useful in games that last a while. They won’t last a while if you lose control of the board, and the Crow’s attack value is pretty low for doing that, even if it’s a flier. For those reasons, I’d say to tech in combat/removal options before thinking about Crows, Turn 3 is a bit early unless things are going extremely well.
Indeed leaving something you want in codex is very viable for black. In fact, I was most concerned you would tech Metamorphosis bc with Max Vandy on board, Garth + Meta is just a better way to maxband Garth for a free tech 2 unit. It’s one of black’s best dual threat checkmates. Each thing requires a different answer so the opponent is forced to tech / play against one threat and sort of let the other be in the meantime.
GG WP @Ellume, I’m happy to play more games or call it here, either is fine!
Hmm, I guess this is my inexperience showing. Those are some great ideas. I will try to keep Garth more in mind more for the future. I appreciate the advice everyone
@FrozenStorm I’m up for another game or two, but would like to change up the decks. I would propose that we select each others monodeck this time for fun, mainly because I want to try play against white. You game for playing white? If so feel free to start the game and select which colour I will use. I guess we would want to start a new thread for that?
Sounds good to me, though I have no preference for what you play; what would you like to play? If you absolutely want me to pick, I’d give you Blue, as I think White v Blue is an interesting matchup (and should have been how the physical expansions were packaged & shipped, as Black vs Blue is an awful matchup but Black vs Purple is also an interesting one)
Black vs Blue is an awful matchup? Which has the advantage?
Well if you’re giving me the option then I’m probably going to pick something other then Blue, simply because I ended up playing a couple games against it recently with my friend. I’m thinking maybe Red. Is that a balanced matchup?
