Thoughts

Okay, we’ve got to deal with Black Starter which is a pain in the ass. Furthermore, he’s got Deteriorate AND Sacrifice the Weak in his next hand. I think we can pretty much forgo playing a unit entirely to recover our hand and make those cards useless for a turn. That said, either or both could be in his hand next turn and that’s tricky for us to deal with. I’m putting Onimaru in Squad Leader so as to mitigate the damage he takes and make him less susceptible to Pestering Haunt next turn.

As for gameplans, he’s got Garth for card draw, Blood presumably for a Tech II plan, and Finesse for early Tech I harassment. Truth feels okay because he doesn’t have a great deal of targeting outside of Deteriorate but I also can’t get that much out of Mirrors because I can’t copy Crashbarrows. Peace also feels fine since we can generate tons of little targets that can take the sting out of Blood’s pain, but it starts a little too slowly. Furthermore, Discord makes that especially uncomfortable. I think one of our key concerns has to be the Graveyard. That plus Fencers and Crashbarrow is ludicrous so we’ll take out a General’s Hammer to try and keep that locked out. We may also want Injunction but I think my instincts for using that spell are incorrect.

Okay, I think we were correct about River spells. Discord is a pain in the buns to deal with which is why I went ahead and killed River. My cycle is pretty delayed since I didn’t think about how Lawful Search would throw that off on the first turn. That said, he can kill the Traffic Director to repair my hand or let me keep it for possible Manufactured Truth shenanigans.

I think we keep on with our Truth plays and keeping General’s Hammer around to break the Graveyard as needed.

Maybe he isn’t going for Blood Tech II like I thought. I also don’t see any Fencers in his hand so now I’m bamboozled. Is he truly going for Necromancy Tech II? That would be delightful since I so rarely see that. For the moment, I know he’s teched 2 Bone Collectors and that’s it. They are especially good for dealing with Blue’s weenies since they basically convert my units into skeletons. I maybe should work in a Judgement Day.

Great, so Bloodlust for sure, that'll kill the Flagbearer and something else. 4 gold for Drakk plus Bloodlust. That kills SQL and Flagbearer. Garth + Imp kill Bigby, Garth to 5. Max Garth for 2 gold (1 gold left), bring out Crashbarrow to kill Reteller and overpower onto Tech I. Cycling so heavily in order to get back to Bloodlust, which I'll need to fight off these illusions. On the bright side, only Tech II is available to Flagrant, which means neither of those bounced illusions are playable this turn.

No Graveyard is good news for us. He did remove my ability to replay my Hound and Flagbearer, but I think we can handle this. Looking at his hand we see Discord and Sacrifice the Weak which we can block off with a Reputable Newsman. I have enough money to make mirrors who are empowered by Macciatus who I conveniently drew from Lawful Search. I was hoping for Free Speech but this can work too. I really don’t want to lose Macciatus so I think we’ll put him and Quince in the back. For the moment, He could spend 5 gold to maxband Drakk to haste the Bone Collector in his hand. Furthermore, he can make and sacrifice a skeleton to draw into something more devastating. I’ll think we’ll have to see how it all plays out. I’m really banking on him not drawing into something crucial which is probably a mistake.

Still no Graveyard? Consider me flummoxed. I think next turn we’re gonna feel the pain so I’m gonna wall up really nicely. And if he doesn’t bring the pain, my Mirror Illusions will potentially be able to do some work. Free Speech is excellent here since it’ll prevent Drakk nonsense including Bloodlust and Garth draw power. I’m feeling moderately okay about this position. Not mention that we’ve weakened his Tech II so we might even be able to get a tech break soon.

Still no Graveyard? Consider me flummoxed. I think next turn we’re gonna feel the pain so I’m gonna wall up really nicely. And if he doesn’t bring the pain, my Mirror Illusions will potentially be able to do some work. Free Speech is excellent here since it’ll prevent Drakk nonsense including Bloodlust and Garth draw power. I’m feeling moderately okay about this position. Not mention that we’ve weakened his Tech II so we might even be able to get a tech break soon.
