Casual: flagrantangles (mono-Blue) versus Persphone (mono-Black)

Much like in our prior games, I’m not sure if I did play well, but I’d like to think I played better than two years ago.

I would rarely if ever tech Jurisdiction in monoblue. Onimaru’s and Quince’s spells don’t affect the board in a way that makes them especially beneficial in most circumstances and Bigby’s spells ought to have been teched instead of Jurisdiction. Someone told me I didn’t use Injunction very well strategically so I stopped using it since it often put me in worse positions. Community Service I’m leery of because of how costly it is.

Honeycakes is just a generic term of endearment I use really frequently. I try not to use it with strangers but I use it so habitually that it sometimes slips out if I don’t specifically try to excise it so I apologize for that.

I’m willing to keep playing if you are.

You definitely are playing better than 2-3 years ago.

I think I am up for more games, actually. I’ll go monowhite, your choice to play first or second?

(edit: I’ll be awake the next 4-5 hours if you want to try to play synchronously; I can spend less time formatting my posts.)

imo bigby best spell is injunction, hands down, can turn tables dramatically. Community S is imo too costly (and risky), unless you are against feral/present. I saw it fumble time and time again, spendig 5g for a 3g unit…
Jurisdiction, imo, is good only for spells like free speech/nether drain et similia), when you have lots of gold and need to shut down heroes

I’ll try first again. I didn’t get your message until after I’d gone to bed. :disappointed:

No units in hand except for the Aven? Feels not great, honeycakes though we can avoid Grappling Hook by not patrolling it. I’m feeling like going for a Dreamscape + Macciatus situation so let’s see what we can get started in that range.

Okay, this play means that if he attacks into it, he has to sacrifice the hero or unit. They could midband Grave first so that Grave doesn’t die outright, but that leaves Grave open to being murdered by the Aven. Traffic Director means that Grappling Hook can’t come into play and the Reputable Newsman is opposing Sensei’s Advice. Aged Sensei doesn’t have haste so we don’t have to worry about that. I’m feeling decent about this setup for the moment.

Tech Plan:

Martial Mastery to play Tech IIs on turn 4? Fuzz Cuddles to ignore your bird?

If all else fails I can throw my sword at it.

Safe Attacking costs 1 and is blocked by the Newsman so you’ll have to kill them first before you can play it.

My bad, just assumed it cost 2 like Battle Suits for some reason. One moment…

Instead of paying 2g for Safe Attacking, pay 2 for Fox Viper. No attacks.

Unharmed Savior Monk patrols in Squad Leader (2 / 2+1A), 2/1 Fox Viper patrols in Technician, and 3/4 Grave doesn’t patrol.

No worries, I once forgot the cost of Metamorphosis, tried to block it, and died as a result of that mistake so I’m sympathetic.

Taking cheap stuff since I skipped a worker. Sparring Partner also beats both Injunction and Community Service!

If you don’t Arrest + Manufactured Truth Primus and trade both Aven and Bigby into Grave (3 cards & 7 gold, yikes), Martial Mastery (that you know about) makes True Power of Storms… threatening to you.

I’m not teching it this turn b/c I workered Flagbearer without thinking about it, but you have to consider that I might. Bring out Free Speech Quince into my unit-heavy build, I dare you~

It costs a gold to use Grappling Hook on the Scribe since it has Resist 1 in Lookout.

One of these days I will finish a game of Codex without an error. Recalculating…

Hmmmmm, a swordless Grave is less terrifying than usual. I wonder if I should simply attack into him and make him likely to die? I think we just go for Tech I and threaten its destruction with the Traffic Director which may pressure Persephone to build Tech II this turn. Maybe I don’t actually want that though? Ugh. I’m not sure. I think we’ll just put our units down and proceed to Tech II and see if we can’t kill via Dreamscape.
