Thoughts
Heh, second time Dreamfire’s given heroes a level just to stop Tax Collector stealing money. I didn’t like playing it at the time, but having it sitting in the Graveyard seems to have its perks.
Using Deteriorate and Reversal this turn would let me wipe the board again, but I’d rather get Tech II built. I can do that by maxing Grave instead of using Reversal.
What to tech? Abomination’s a given so I can start taking buildings down, I also want to tech a spell in, either Injunction or one of the hand hitters (Carrion Curse, Community Service). Which of the latter is likely to hurt more? Community Service will be fantastic if it hits, but to ensure it does I need a whopping 8 gold (Martial Mastery + Bigby + CS) on a single turn, whereas Carrion Curse only needs 6 and is already useable. Going for Community Service lets me bring in Injunction later, Carrion Curse makes my starter spells cheaper, gives more fuel for TPoS if I want that, plus I can bring out Sickness or Death and Decay. Going the Orpal route seems a safer bet, and I think I’ve got enough advantage to take a safer bet.
… Hmm, choosing what to worker next turn isn’t going to be fun.
Yeah, that lone, rotting Tax Collector might end up winning you the game…

Discarding Plague Spitter, let’s see if he has Tech II units in his hand… a Basilisk and a Dragon, eep. I can’t destroy the Tech II this turn, so I’ll have to just clear his board and hope I draw something to deal with that. I don’t have anything down that the Dragon can target, so hopefully I’m just dealing with the Basilisk and the Playful Panda.

A couple of Potent B’s ought to hold the line, unless something like Plague Lab + Spreading Plague happens. I wonder if charnel_mouse is trying to set up TPoS, but I don’t think I’m giving great targets for that anyway (other than my base, naturally).

OK, this is pretty annoying. Sacrifice the Weak would hit the mirror, not the real Basilisk. Orpal’s abilities are targeted, so they don’t help either. I think my best option is here is just to go to Tech III to threaten Bigby spells and Plague Lord. Grave in Elite to kill the Basilisk if it somehow hits him, Orpal in Technician for a better chance at drawing or MMing into something that can deal with Basilisk (Plague Spitter, Abomination).

Shame I can’t take out the Basilisk, but at least it’s at 0 damage without help. The question is whether I kill something with a Ghoul, or with Deteriorate and play Gorgon from Graveyard. I’m leaning toward the latter to stop my Graveyard from breaking.
I think this patrol makes sense. If Abom dies I have more money to buy things and cycle into them with Martial Mastery, if Grave dies I get another card to try to save my position. Graveyard’s going down, unfortunately.
… Woo, Plague Lord!

Useless again, sigh. Not much to do except try again.

Tiny Basilisk, not entirely useless. I guess I can trade boards and wait for a slow death by Plague Lords… or I can make one more try with Geiger’s midband. What the hell, I’ll go for it.

Fairie Dragon! Not as good as Hallucination, but it’ll have to do.

5 gold left after Plague Lord:
- Martial Master to get Reversal, then use that and Deteriorate to bust through and destroy the Tech II. 1 gold leftover.
- Orpal, Sickness, Grave destroys Tech II. 1 gold leftover.
- Bigby, Injunction, do nothing else because I can’t through the patrol zone like this.
I can spend the leftover gold on Martial Mastery for more chances and drawing back into Abomination, plus possibly Deteriorate if I want Sickness to hit Geiger. Might as well know what his hand is, too.
Got a choice between destroying Tech I to stop those Argonauts arriving, and destroying Tech II to stop Dreamfire buildings a Tech III for T-Rexes. Let’s just kill II to be safe, Orpal and Plague Lord should be able to handle Argonauts and Geiger might draw into a Tech II unit.
… Great hand for ripping through some Tech Is.
No way for me to come back from that, GG WP!
I think the codex I’m playing has trouble answering the Disease plan, mostly because my heroes can’t really fight. I’m willing to give it one more shot though, if you’re interested.
By the way, awesome use of Martial Mastery!
GG WP, I’m definitely up for another shot! I thought I’d lost my chance when the Potent Basilisk came out and got mirrored, since so many of my options are targeted outside of Injunction. Maybe get out a Spectral Flagbearer or two?
I’ve been steering away from Truth because I consider Orpal the perfect counter to the entire spec, but yeah, I should at least try it, especially if you open with Grave instead.

I haven’t tried opening with Geiger yet, which in theory-craft might have some potential. He’s an ok brawler, Now! works well with Argos and Tiny B’s (though it has terrible anti-synergy with anything Truth-related), and even his maxband could have some value with Green starter, e.g. Spore Shambler. It’s worth a try, anyway.

Hmm.
- Midband Bigby (2), sideline Ironbark Treant, kill Young Treant with Imp, play Tax Collector and steal gold (1). Not enough left for Tech II, but I’m only drawing 1 card on reshuffle so might be worth the risk. Tax Collector on patrol (3) against Geiger, IT, and Spore Shambler (2+4+1). Alternatively, kill YT with Deteriorate and Pestering Haunt (1), then possibly kill Spore Shambler with Thieving Imp. Then I have TC, possibly TI in patrol (3±2) against (3+4±1). Or smack the IT with Imp, then replay from Graveyard (3). I’d have to skip a worker, let’s not do that.
- Worker (1), Tech II (4), Tax Collector (2). Tax Collector, Bigby, and Thieving Imp on patrol (3+3+2) against Geiger, Spore Shambler, and IT (2+1+4).
Killing the Spore Shambler so it’s more likely I can get rid of the Ironbark Treant with Sacrifice the Weak next turn, plus I really don’t want it becoming a 5/4.
Do I want Imp or TC in Squad Leader? Collector in front needs a levelled Geiger or the Treant to kill, then the rest can hit… not very much in the backline, or a hasted Basilisk can get through and kill Bigby. With Imp in front, Treant or a levelled Geiger can kill it, which leaves the Tax Collector to kill with the other, then a hasted Basilisk can kill Bigby. The latter leaves the Treant more open to getting killed later, so let’s go with that.
