[details=Thoughts][spoiler] Big float, but he’s gotta build Tech I for 2g. That leaves him 5g and the blue starter to play with. I’m going to do my best to make it hard for him to kill Grave. Zane + Aven is 4, he needs 5 to get him from SL. He can’t use manufactured truth because he only played 1 card (a good one to be sure).

Hmm, he could Zane and level him to 4 (5g), then 3/3 Zane and Aven kill Grave, but he loses Zane. Doesn’t seem great but it does solve this grave situation. He could still build tech I under that scenario and the worst part is I won’t be able to play the Versatile Style I tech’d in. Well, let’s see what happens! [/spoiler][/details]

Well, that was a good turn. I’m sure Midori is the sacrificial lamb for him, just providing enough defense so I can’t break the jail too easily. He’s under a lot of pressure so I’d be surprised if he goes for Tech II next round, unless he busts out double Overager Cadet…

It’s not pretty, but the sword gets rid of the death-touching basilisk. Smoker is putting in work on that jail and fortunately I have a good move in teching up rather than deploying the Rambasa Twins. He needs to take a chunk of gold and go to Tech II, Rook is exposed and Grave seems save. I bet there are more basilisks in my future though :([/details]

Woops, forgot he had stealth and not ‘unstoppable’!

I guess he just doesn’t attack, I’ll play Sparring Partner first, then Aged Sensei who is in Jail.

Checking hand to plan out the rest of the turn, and help speed the reshuffle:
Entangling Vines
Focus Master
Rambasa Twin
Snapback

No fliers (who might break my Tech III), so safe to go all-in on Gunships (ie, play only 1 other card from hand so they reshuffle right now)

I could also Trade Oni for Grave, then Pay 6 gold to kill Setuki and end up with a max Zane, but I don’t think I have a winning line from that position.

Snapback on a non-patroller and Vines on a chump blocker are both fine - as long as I put up 3 patrollers, nothing is getting through (or I can just trade a soldier for the Smoker)

The non-reshuffle option, however, is to go TB + MT, kill Grave, Sparring Partner, and the Tech II building. That lets him get some value out of SnapBack, though. And doesn’t stop Rook from coming out, due to the Hall. So, we’ll just build board and call it good.

OTOH, since I don’t get to reshuffle anyway, might as well get a bunch of stuff in play going way down on cards. I can always recover with Zane

GG, I concede!

gg!

That Jail really barred the way, didn’t it?

Yes, I didn’t realize that my ‘solution’ to the jail could easily be stopped by a Tower, so my whole gameplan fell to pieces. Well-played.

I didnt have great answers for Tiny Basilisk either…I was trying for YLD but never got there.

To me the real killer was losing rook on turn 4. If you had put him in SQL there was no free kill for Oni to level off of, that might have been all you needed to keep the tech 2 long enough

Yeah, I debated that patrol but I wasn’t thinking about Oni’s frenzy ability. SQL would have been better, maybe he would have been forced to use Arrest.

Arrest doesn’t work on heroes though?
