First game this tournament against a deck that isn’t mono-red. I made the mistake last game of not protecting my heroes very well in the early stages, which I can hopefully rectify this game.
I am not sure why Vandy’s sparkshot always slips my mind…

If my Tech II survives this turn, I’ll probably maxband Garth to get a Blackhand Dozer in play. A strong Tech II this early should be able to start swinging the board back in my favor. Since he’s gone down on cards, I’m expecting him to build his Tech II this turn to keep up and replenish his hand a little. Bone Collector probably won’t survive the turn, nor do I expect my Graveyard to. I’m alright with that so long as my Tech II lives.

I could potentially summon a maxbanded Vandy to have Gargoyle kill a tech building of his next turn, but I’d rather get a demon or two on the board if I can. That darned panda has to die, though. Death to Ling Ling!

Thoughts
I’m in a very strong position here to keep pressure on him, and no matter what units he plays next turn I should be able to wipe his board again. Unfortunately it looks like my Graveyard will likely pop this turn, but it’s served me very well. Prior to this game I had severely underestimated the power of Pestering Haunt. Paired with Graveyard like this, it can do a lot of work.

Pestering Haunt attacks your Tower for 1, dying in the process.
Sacrifice a Skeleton to Orpal to place a -1/-1 rune on your Centaur.
Play Death and Decay, dealing 3 damage to each of your buildings. Your Tower is destroyed, dealing 2 damage to your base. Midori, Young Treant, and Centaur all die as well, with the Centaur’s death triggering Orpal’s maxband and placing a -1/-1 rune on your Rhino. (2)
Blackhand Dozer attacks your (3/4 + A) Rhino, dealing 5 damage and killing it. His 2 overpower damage destroys your Tech II building, dealing another 2 to your base. He dies as a result of the attack, and tries to destroy my Gargoyle, but only succeeds in exhausting it and removing all damage from it.
Orpal Gloor attacks and kills your Tech I building, dealing 2 damage to your base.
Man, I made so many bad tech choices… Live and learn.
I will say though, Gargoyle would be skipped by blackhand dozer’s ability, as per the errata on Death Rites and Obliterate. Or maybe not… I’m not actually 100% sure…
It is not, since the Dozer isn’t getting errata’d to “Sacrifice” (it explicitly allows the active player to make a choice, so it doesn’t need to be the asynchronous version of sacrifice)
