Thoughts
Nekoatl usually likes sitting back until he can set up an engine Tech II, and this is a good deck for doing that. My main concern here is if Birds show up, since I don’t have good anti-air. I basically have to bring Aven out to slow them down, and hope he doesn’t bring out Argagarg to pop it any time soon, or can’t afford an expensive Rampant Growth from Rook.
I do wonder whether the Jail could be handy here for slowing down the Green starter, since Green / Strength don’t have outstanding ways to recover hand size. That would let Rook come out to take the board, though. I am wondering whether it’s worth shooting for a Stampede at Tech I, before Neko can really get going. I’ll give it a shot, Argagarg’s Water Elemental can help with Birds too if needs be.

It may be a good idea to rush Circle… though Newsman makes that iffy. Amusingly, not building tech buildings counters Injunction, not that I necessarily think that’s a good plan… but maybe delaying them in favor of the Tree is.

Interesting start. If I put Argagarg in front, Midori still needs Rampant Growth or midband to kill him. Rampant Growth means he can’t midband afterwards, he can just afford Tech I xor units. Midband means he can’t afford anything except Merfolk Prospector. These both seem like good positions to me, especially if I get a good Lobber draw.

Time to aim for the sky… and I guess I should diversify my spells to make sure I don’t get completely locked out… then again, there’s plenty of incentive for a $2 Newsman with my starter spells. Still, I feel like I should try to keep my options open.

I’m assuming Neko just wasn’t expecting Lobbers here, I only needed one. It’s a shame to lose Argagarg here for Stampede, but I can quickly level Bigby for card draw going into MoLaC, so this is fine.

OK, Tiny Basilisk is a little more dangerous. I can’t just snipe it with an Aven, even if I’m not under Moment’s Peace. I can insure it, but I don’t think I can easily keep both Insurance Agents safe until it dies, especially with Midori ready to take to the air. Oh, but if I have Aven he’d have to skip a worker to pop and fly, maybe that’s enough if Argagarg is at midband, and is in Elite to trade with the Basilisk is it isn’t buffed.

GGWP! Fighting against Tech 0 Green, that was weird
Just realised I drew too many cards on the insurance. But I drew the cards I needed first, so same result.
Looks like the two of you created a new record: only two hours for a complete tournament round
i’m sorry but did you draw 4 cards here or 2?
I drew 4, but should have drawn 2. I also couldn’t have attacked with Bigby, since I used him to draw. However, I drew the two MoLaCs first, and didn’t use the other two cards. The Insurance Agents would have destroyed the Tree instead of hitting the Tech I.
In other words, I should have 3 cards in hand for next turn instead of 5, the Tech I would be at 5 HP, and my MoLaCs would only have 3 charges instead of 4. Unless Nekoatl feels strongly otherwise, or there’s an option for him that I’m missing, I’d say it wouldn’t have made much difference, especially given my stash.
