Infinite imps, eh?? I guess I’m okay with that.
I’m thinking Doom Grasp and Tiny Basilisk are the natural threats to Calamandra. Doom grasp is going to be expensive this early. Tiny Basilisks can be neutralized with wither, hastily traded with Nimble Fencers, or blocked by a Spectral Hound.
Nimble fencer could give me some fanciness with a tenderfoot hastily trading well with the Pestering Haunt.
The infinite imps opener is kinda greedy… it’s investing lots to hamper my card economy without putting board presence. I can afford to put down my Granfalloon to protect my Spectral Hound, and continue aggression with Calamandra. If I lose card economy, I already have tigers as a solution. Heck, if Granfalloon and Calamandra survive, I can get an early protected Spectral Tiger out. This feels like a good position!
I don’t want invis shenanigans so I think I’m gonna go tower. We’ll hope no Spark or at least not +bloom or messenger, Hound + Midori is relatively safe to that then. If I get blown up, so be it, Truth should still be pretty solid
Okay, I didn’t draw my tech 1 cards, so might as well make a big tiger. I’ll put the flagbearer in Technician since I’m likely to want to play some cards next turn.

My Thoughts
Laying the other Hound right now risks toppling the graveyard. Good news is Cala is maxed, throwing heroes at problems is fine for right now… In fact, if I can bait Cala into going onto 2hp, I can Nether Drain + Haunt for a really big play. Okay, that sounds fun. Reteller + Flagbearer should help me embolden my defense, I suspect the play will actually be tech up Truth + replay the Tiger. I might lose a tech3 race I spose, we shall see. StW means I can at least remove the Flagbearer if I like
Not quite enough board presence to go aggressive this turn, despite the good hand. I’ll take out the Illusion to avoid some shenanigans and put out more illusions. I’m not sure about my tech… but reliable anti air and an aoe spell both sound useful. I’m probably overreacting to my greedy tech choices last game, but I may just go rushing this time.

Well no look on that Cala bait, oh well guess I worker the Drain. I think killing the Tiger makes the most sense, StW + Det + Garth cheapest way. I should be able to tech 3 + Reteller + Hound next turn, that sounds pretty good, I like it
I’m assuming the extra spectral hound in the graveyard is a typo? P2T5

Thoughts
Okay, another round of trades to deal with my big tiger. Killing Garth is probably important to avoid that maxband. I don’t quite threaten enough damage to use an expensive wither on the hound. I think the fencer in elite is enough patrol… I want to protect the Huntress. Let’s see how the tech 2 phase of the game goes!

My Thoughts
oooh nice, Det + Haunt lets me get a Cala kill. I think that’s worth doing w/ Midori even though it’s a little expensive, means no Feral Strike or Behind the Ferns to worry about as well as no healing for Turtle to do. If I play my hand down to 0 I can still tech up next turn and probably have a Gryphon or two to work with, sounds great to me. I should probably match the tiger pressure with one tech, Hallucination would give me some cheap targeting for offense as well as a possible buff for my own dudes, so that also sounds good. Don’t think Free Speech, Nether Drain, Doom Grasp would be better at least.

My Thoughts
I see a really solid line here to killing Quince via Midbandori and that makes sense to me, but that only costs 2, what am I doing with the other 8? Garth + Maxband for a rival Roc is definitely an option… I could lose it to targeting w/ no Macciatus though (could be mitigated w/ Flagbearer). Tech 3 I don’t do anything to deal w/ Roc, but worst case is it can kill one thing (Midori, Reteller, Tech3) and that’s only if there’s a Macciatus in hand, and like so what? Losing Midori means I get Gryphons out, losing Tech3 means I still have a crazy strong board and can fetch a rival Roc + Macciatus next turn. So I think Tech3 is where we’re settling.
I still have 3 gold left over though… Could do Flagbearer, could do Garth + Skele, could use Quince levels to maxband Midori (gives me my own flying threat and along w/ Haunt that means breaking a tech2 or tech 3 myself). Makes Midori harder for Roc to kill, too. Yea I think Flagbearer + maxbandori works nicely, skele + garth gives me slightly better ground game for next turn but I think my ground game’s pretty fine as is.
you gotta get to tech 3 somehow right? XD I think Offkilter deserves props for playing it into Black starter, I don’t think it’s too silly to see it into Neutral but bold to lay a Roc into Black
I mean, I see that deteriorate is strong against illusions, but it’s probably your only answer to them. And, if I can get Granfalloon out, that’s covered. P2T7
